THE NORRIS Pn:ns r;o.. PHoTo-Lrmu. WASHINGTON-mm UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICE.
OTIS A. MYGATT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A REFLECTOR FOR ARTIFICIAL LIGHTS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No; 35,616, dated January 28, 1902.
Application filed June 3, 1901. Serial No. 63,042. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it mayconoorn:
Be it known that I, OTIS A. MYGATT, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a certain new and useful Design for a Reflector for Artificial Lights, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The design consists in the form or configuration and in the surface ornamentation of a transparent reflector for artificial lights.
Figure 1 is a top plan of a reflector for artificial lights involving the present invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.
The reflector is composed of transparent glass, so that the ornamentation on the outer surface is visible on theinner surface through the glass.
The surface ornamentation of the design consists in a series of triangular ribs or prisms A, radiating from the ring B in the center.
The form of the reflector is in general that of a flattened conic frustum, the body being curved as it approaches the outer edge, as indicated in Fig. 2. The outer edge is scalloped or shaped on a serpentine line in the direction of the circumference of the reflector, as at O, and the edges of the reflector depart from a true circle, as shown in Fig. 1, the outer termination of the ribs or prisms A also presenting small convex projections.
The central opening of the reflector is surmounted by a plain ring B.
WVhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design fora transparent-glass reflector having the general form of the frustum of a flattened cone but curved and scalloped in serpentine direction near the outer rim, the apex terminating in a plain ring, and the body being covered on its outer surface with triangular ribs or prisms radiating from the central ring, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
OTIS A. MYGATT.
