WITNESSES H1 VEN me Q ,ea/w/e/ 8y a ATTORNEY UNITED STATES HENRY F. PEARCE,
PATENT OFFICE.
OF SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A LlD FOR MiNERS LAMPS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,992, dated June 13, 1899. Application filed May 8, 1899. Serial No. 716,027. Term of patent '7 years.
To (til whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY F. PEARCE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Scranton, in the county of Lackawanna and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and originalDesign for Lids for Miners Lamps, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This design is intended particularly to be applicable to the lid-piece of miners lamps. Its principal features are illustrated in the drawings, in which Figure 1 is a top plan View of the lid of a miners lamp, showing my new design. Fig. 2 is an under side View of the same. Fig. 3 is a sectional View taken on the line w as of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a similar sectional view taken on the line y y of Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a side elevation of a lid made according to my new design.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material features of my new design consist of a substantially hemispherical dome having embossments or corrugations A A in the semblance of a pair of miners picks crossing one another centrally at the summit of the dome,
a slightly-greater elevation being at G, where the eyes of the crossed picks apparently coincide. Arranged concentrically about the elevation 0, in the four angles outlined by the crossed picks aforesaid, are four similar embossments B I3 B B in semblance of miners picks without the handles removed, each of the handles pointing toward the summit C of the dome. The rounded enihossment 0 surmounts a square central embossnient D.
It is apparent that this design is also applicable to ornamental objects and lids of other articles as well as to lids of miners lamps, with which I use it.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a lid-piece for miners lamps or other articles as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY F. PEARCE.
