UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JULIA M. BRAOKEN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO ONEIDA COM- MUNITY, LTD., OF KENWOOD, NEW YORK, A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS OR SIMILAR ARTI CLES;
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,607, dated January 28, 1902.
Application filed November 29, 1901. Serial No. 845149. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIA M. BRACKEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ohicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Handle for Spoons or Similar Articles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 shows a front View of the handle of a spoon. Fig. 2 shows a rear View thereof, these two face views being deemed sufficient to illustrate my design, as no claim is made upon the curve of the handle.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists in a handle for spoons or similar articles gradually increasing in width from the bowl to the outer end and is formed of relief-work giving the handle the general appearance and outline of a poppy and blossom. The swelled stems as they leave the roots from which they spring terminate in bulbs and the full-grown blossom. The rear face of the handle represents the rear of the blossom, as shown in Fig. 2, while the front face of the handle represents the front view of the blossom, with the upper petals drooping slightly over the face, the whole forming a unique unitary article of manufacture.
In the drawings, a represents the handle, I) the stems holding the pods c, and d the stem from which the flower e is grown.
frepresents the leaf emanating from the roots and partially inclosing the lower ends of the stem.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patcut, is-
The design for a handle for spoons or similar articles as herein described and shown.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my my handthis 22d day of November, 1901.
JULIA M. BRAOKEN.
