UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THEODORE l V. FOSTER, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR BUTTON-HOOKS, PAPER-CUTTERS, OR SIMILAR ARTICLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 36,010, dated August 19, 1902.
Application filed June 80,1902. Serial N0.113,881. Term of patent '7 years.
To (tZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, THEODORE W. FOSTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and prod need a new, Original, and Ornamental Design for the Handle of a Button-Hook, Paper-Outter, or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, forming part thereof.
Figure l is a side view of the handle of a button-hook, showing my design, the blade of a paper-cutter being indicated in broken lines. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional View taken through the broadest portion of the handle. As shown in the drawings, my design consists of the'raised representation of a male and female figure sitting in a swing suspended from the inwardly-curved foliation forming the margin of "the upper end of the handle. Tropical leaves form the margins of the wavelike outlines of the lower part of the handle, and tropical plants fill the space below the swinging figures. A foliated ferrule forms the junction of the handle with the stem of the button-hook. The whole presents to the eye the appearance of two persons sitting in a swing surrounded by tropical growth.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The ornamental design for the handle of a button-hook, paper-cutter or similar article, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
THEODORE 1V. FOSTER.
