UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
(SIEORGE A. LEECH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO EMMA M. LEECH, OF \VASI-IINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
DESIGN FOR A SADDLE-SEATr srncirxcarron forming art ornesign no. 29,719, dated November 22, 1898-,
Application filed Dcto'ber 18, 1897. Serial No. 655,637. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it kn own that I, GEORGE A. LEEoH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city,in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Saddle-Seats, of
which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, illustrating the same.
In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a saddle provided with a saddle-seat embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof, and Fig. 3 is a plan view thereof.
The distinguishing characteristic of my design resides in the peculiar configuration of the back, base, sides, and pommel, (the latter beingopen at the forward end,) as represented in the drawings.
A designates the back of the saddle-seat, upwardly and rearwardly inclined and merg ing into the base portion B, from which depend the sloping sides O.
D designates the two side branches of the pommel, separated from each other throughout by the intervening slot or aperture F, which extends rearwardly midway of the saddle-seat to the back, so as to divide the base symmetrically.
The saddle-seat along the back and sides is bent over outwardly thereat to form a curved edging, as shown.
Having thus described my design, what I claim is The design for a saddle-seat, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE A. LEEOH.
Witnesses:
HUGH M. STERLING, JOHN C. PENNIE.
