DESlGN FOR A SPOON, 84.0.
SPECIFICATION forming part; of Design No. 21,226, dated December 8, 1891.
Application filed April 21, 1891. Serial No. 389,843. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom. it may concern:
2e it known that 1, JOHN T. lIEnnEnsoN, a citizen of the United Statcs,residing at Catskill, in the county of Green and State of New York,have invented and produced a new and original Design for Handles of Spoons, &c.,of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a view of the obverse side of the handle and showing my design for the same. Fig. 2 is a view of the reverse side of the handle and showing my design for the same, these views being deemed necessary to illustrate my design for the handle.
In this design for the two sides of thehandle A the leading features in the design for the obverse side is the figure e of the Catskill Mountain House in connection with the fignrefot the rock below the house,the foliage g of trees, and road It below said house and rock. These figures illustrating the Catskill Mountain House, rock, foliage of trees, and road are grouped together in a panel at, th end portion (1. of the handle and bordered by scrollwork I) b, and preferably separated from the stern a'of the handle by the foliated scroll-work c, as shown in Fig. 1. On this stem portion a of the handle is an oblong panel for receiving letters or words, which panel is separated from the bowl A by scrollwork i.
The leading features in the design for the reverse side of the handle are the figures 7c. of cats and panel D, neighboring said figures, for receiving letters or words, and figure n, illustrating a profile view of a mountain range. The figures of the cats and the panel for receiving letters are on the outer end portion (1 of the handle and are preferably surrounded by scroll-work border (l (l, while the profile view of the mountain range is on the stem portion (1 and is shown to be separated from the bowl by the scroll-work m. These designs may be applied to the two opposite (obverse and reverse) sides of handles of forks or analogous articles without involving invention by others.
\Vhat I claim isl. The design for the obverse side of the handle herein described and shown, the same comprising the figure c of the Catskill Mountain House, figure f of the rock below said house, foliage g, and road It, as set forth.
2. The design for the reverse side of the handle herein shown and described,the same comprising the figures 7. of the cats and a panel D for receiving letters, and the profile view or figure of a mountain range n ,extend ed on the stem of the spoon, as set forth.
3. The design for the handle herein shown and described, the same consisting of the group of figures e of the Catskill Mountain I-Iouse,f of the rock below said house, g of foliage, and 71 of a road, comprising the design for the obverse side, and the figure 7;. of cats, panel D for receiving letters, and figure or view n of a mountain range, all together forming the reverse-side design, as set forth.
