To all whozn it ntay concern:

Be it known that I, VVILLIAM F. BROWN, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, and a resident of Newark, Essex county, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and groupingof figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet, showing my new design.

The design consists of the body A and the border B. The body A consists of scrollshaped stems ornamented with leaf forms 011 a ground containing sprays of leaf and stem forms. The border 13 has an inner ornamental margin, a main portion composed of scroll-shaped stems ornamented with leaf forms on a shaded ground containing leaf and branch forms, and an outer shaded margin.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A, substantially as shown.

2. The design for carpets, consisting of the border B, substantially as shown.

3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border B, substantially as shown.
