The Shedule referred to in these Letters 'Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM CAMPBELL, of Clin-' ton, in the county of Clinton, and State of Iowa, have invented a new and improved Mode of Attaching the Cover to a Car Oil-Box; and I (lo hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof,

reference being had to the accompanying drawings,

and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

To enable others to make and use my invention, I will describe its construction and operation.

The cover is cast with a tent or projection near the top, as shown, at letter A, in Figure 2, in the accompanying drawing, which revolves in a recess in the box to which it is permanently fastened with a single bolt, B, passing through the tent, and a lug,(l cast in the top of the box, into a nut, E, thus enabling the cover to l'ei olve and open or close the box, as shown on Figures 3 and 4, Without changing or removing any bolt or other fastening.

There is also a circular projection on the face of the box, at the bottom of the opening, forming aslot or dovetail with the bottom of the cover, thereby making a close-fitting joint, as shownat F. i

This cover can also be used with a spiral spring placed in a recess in the cover, under the head of the bolt, which enables the cover to form a close-fitting joint with the box, and is fastened in the same manner as shown in cross-section, Figure 5.
