THE NORRIS PETERS ca., wnsnmunm, n. c.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIOE.
CHARLES M. LEVY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
FINGER-RING.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES M. LEVY, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Finger-Rings, of which the following is such a full, clear, and exact description as will en able others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention has special reference to that style of finger rings which are intended to contain a photograph or other memento and consists in a certain novel construction which will be hereinafter first fully described and then particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the annexed drawings, which fully illustrate my invention, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a finger ring, looking at the inner side thereof. Fig. 2 is an enlarged transverse section taken through the box and Fig. 3 is a similar longitudinal section. Fig. i is a detail perspective View of the cover.
The ring, 1, is constructed with the usual enlargement, 2, which, in the present instance, is in the form of a box having a transparent crystal, 3, set into its top or outer edge. The bottom or inner edge of the box is constructed with a flange, 4, turning inward with respect to the wall of the box. From the edge of this flange 4, a wall, 5, extends within the box while from the edge of the said wall, a bezel, 6, projects at a right angle thereto. The cover consists of a plate, 7, of the same material as the ring having a flange, 8, along its edge, with a lip, 9, at the edge of the said flange.
10 designates a photograph or other memento placed in the box against the crystal closing the top thereof. The memento is placed in the box against the crystal so as to be viewed therethrough and the cover is then slip ed in the open bottom of the box so as to c ose the same and hold the memento in place.
It will be observed that the main plate of Specification of Letters Patent.

the cover is flat so as to hold the photograph smoothly against the crystal and the wall or flange on the cover is shorter at its ends than on its sides so as to follow the contour of the inner side of the ring and, therefore, present no obstacle to a comfortable fit upon the finger. The lip 9 should be large enough to fit closely within the vertical portion 5 of the rim or bezel of the box and this rim or bezel (consisting of the portions 5 and 6) being supported only by the flange 4 will have a spring gripping action to bind upon the said lip and thereby hold the cover rigidly in place. The wall or flange 8 is of the same height as the wall or flange 5 so that when the cover is in place, the joint will be practically invisible.
The construction is very simple and provides 'a oint which will effectually guard against the entrance of moisture into the box without adding to the weight of the ring.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A finger ring constructed with a box having a crystal set in its top and a projecting rim within its bottom, and a cover fitted within and held by the said rim.
2. A finger ring constructed with a box having a crystal set into the top edge and having at its bottom a flange extending within the box and a bezel rim at the edge of said flange projected away from the wall of the box, and a cover consisting of a plate adapted to fit within the opening presented by said bezel rim and having a wall and lip adapted to fit within and engage the flange and bezel rim of the box.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHARLES M. LEVY.
