Definitions

  • the present invention may find use in the designs of forging and, mainly, powerful stamping presses having press structures of high rigidity and which manufacture stamped articles with high precision.
  • a vertical hydraulic press comprising a frame resisting the operating force of the press and consisting of upper and lower fixed crossbooms and columns. Secured to the upper cross-boom are working cylinders which are provided with plungers connected with a movable cross-piece and transmitting therethrough the operating force to a movable tool. The press is also provided with return cylinders used for raising the movable cross-piece.
  • the movable cross-piece moves along the columns, whereby the bending moment arising during the eccentric loading of the press is transmitted to the columns; this results in additional skewing of the movable crosspiece and greater stress in the columns.
  • the operating force transmitted to the movable cross-piece through the plungers of the working cylinders and the tool causes the bending strain of the cross-piece.
  • the decreased rigidity of the press frame, skew ing and bending of the movable cross-piece reduce the precision of manufacture of stamped articles.
  • the presses are equipped with complicated automatic levelling-off systems.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a press in which the bending strain of the movable cross-piece taking placevin the zone of the tool disposition would be eliminated.
  • Still another object of the present invention is to provide a press in which the precision of the movable cross-piece displacement, as compared to that in conventional presses of the same type, would be higher.
  • the plate In order to decrease the length of the column and make it simpler to assemble the press, the plate has, two rows of columns rigidly secured therein, of which rows one connects the plate with the upper fixed cross-boom and the other one with the lower fixed cross-boom.
  • the latter are designed as wedges provided with a slot.
  • FIG. 1 shows a general view of the press
  • FIG. 2 shows a section taken along line II-II of FIG.
  • FIG. 2A shows a magnified section of the press shown in FIG. 2, showing the guides for the slide and their means of adjustment.
  • FIG. 3 shows a section taken along line III-III of FIG. 2.
  • a vertical hydraulic press comprises a frame which consists of a lower fixed cross-boom 1 (FIG. 1), an upperfixed cross-boom 2, a plate 3 and columns with nuts 4. Besides, the press comprises working cylinders 5 with plungers 6, return cylinders 7, a movable crosspiece 8 connected with a slide 9 (FIG. 2), a sliding table 10. (FIG. 1), cylinders 11 for moving the table,
  • the main component of the press is the frame that resists the force-necessary for deforming the workpiece (not shown in the drawing) and developed by the working cylinders 5 when a high-pressure working liquid is supplied thereinto.
  • the frame has the lower and upper fixed cross-booms 1 and 2 designated, respectively, at the plate 3 disposed between the latter and the col umns.
  • the ends of the columns are provided with threadings which with the aid of the nuts 4 provide for arigid connection of the column with the cross-booms 1,2 and the plate 3.
  • the columns are divided along their length into two rows. Columns 16 ,of one row connect the plate 3 withthe lower fixed cross-boom l and determine, in the long row connect the plate 3 with the upper fixed crossboom 2.
  • the lower fixed cross-boom 1 is mounted on the supports 13 secured in a foundation 18 and carries the sliding table which mounts either directly or through the intermediary of a set of compression plates the tool 14 (the lower die) which is motionless in the course of stamping.
  • the table 10 With the aid of the cylinders 11 specially provided for the purpose and mounted on the foundation 18 the table 10 can be moved to both sides from the axis of the press onto bridges 19 which by one end portion are connected with the lower fixed cross-boom l and by the other end portion rest upon the foundation 18.
  • Secured to the bridges 19 are pushers 12 designed to raise the article above the die.
  • the working cylinders 5 are made as drums 20 (FIGS. 3) having inserted bottoms 21 secured thereto.
  • the space between the drums 20 and the bottoms 21 is packed with the aid of heringbone sealings (not shown in the drawing).
  • the inserted bottoms 21 of the working cylinders 5 rest upon the upper fixed cross-boom 2 and are secured thereto.
  • the plungers 6 of the working cylinders 5 rest upon the movable cross-piece 8 and transmit the operating force to the latter. From the cross-piece 8 the operating force is transmitted through the slide 9 connected thereto to the movable tool (the upper die) which is mounted on the slide 9, the latter may be made integral with the cross-piece. Employment of the slide 9 completely eliminates the bending strain in the zone of the tool fixture.
  • the slide 9 moves in the guides 22 (FIG. 2) which are mounted on the plate 3 in a central hole made in the latter.
  • the guides 22 are made as wedges which with the aid of adjusting screws 25 can bedisplaced in the direction perpendicular to the movement of the slide 9, which makes it possible to set up most favourable clearances both from the viewpoint of the slide movement and from the viewpoint of its possible skewing.
  • the guides 22 are provided with slots 23 (FIGS. 3) by means of which they are connected with the plate 3.
  • the upper and lower fixed cross-booms l, 2, the plate 3 and the movable crosspiece 8 with the slide 9 may consist of several parts. These composite parts are rigidly interconnected with the aid of coupling pins and keys.
  • the plate 3 mounts the return cylinders 7 whose plungers 24 (FIG. 3) are connected with the movable cross-piece 8.
  • the press may be equipped with side breaching devices (not shown in the drawing)l
  • the press according to the present invention functions as follows. With a workpiece (not shown in the drawings) to be processed disposed on the fixed tool 14,- under the action of the low-pressure working liquid and the weight of the press movable parts (the plungers 6, the movable cross-piece 8 with the slide 9, the movable tool 15) the movable cross-piece 8 with the movable tool 15 secured on the slide 9 performs an idle motion until the movable tool 15 contacts the workpiece.
  • the return cylinders 7 brings the movable parts of the press to their initial position by forcing the working liquid out of the spaces of the cylinders 5.
  • the table 10 is moved by the cylinders 10 from under the press to the bridge 19, while the pusher 12 raises the article above the unit of the fixed tool 14 to be subsequently transported.
  • the press may be provided with a central pusher, in which case the pushing operation may be effected without displacing the table 10.
  • the design of the press according to the present invention makes it possible to increase the rigidity of the frame of the press due to the smaller length of the columns; to decrease the skewing of the movable tool in thecase of eccentric application of the loading owing to the rigid displacement of the slide; to preclude transfer of bending moments arising in the case of skewing of the movable cross-piece to the columns; to eliminate the effect exerted on the movable tool by the bending strain of the movable cross-piece, and, as a result of all this, to raise the precision of manufacture of stamped articles by the press.
  • a vertical hydraulic press providing an operating force and comprising: 1
  • said frame means consisting of upper and lower fixed cross-booms and columns;
  • a plate disposed between said upper and lower fixed cross-booms, rigidly connected therewith by means of said columns and carrying said return cylinders, said plate having a central hole.
