SUPPORT FOR ELECTRIC HEATING APPARATUS Filed March 5, 1946 IN VENTOR. L 10 a 720 20.
ATTU R N EYB Patented Jan. 3, 1950 SUPPORT FOR ELECTRIC HEATING APPARATUS Leonard Marano, Brooklyn, N. Y.
Application March 5, 1946, Serial No. 652,147 1 Claim. (01. 24s-2s9) This invention relates to an improved mounting for the drying and therapeutical electrical heating apparatus shown and described in Patent 2,349,509 issued May 23, 1944.
An object of the invention is to provide a mounting that will permit the apparatus to be revolved in any desired direction and will permit the mounting to be removed from the stand on which it is mounted and secured to a table or to the wall.
With the above and the other objects in view the invention consists of the novel details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts more fully hereinafter described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of the apparatus and the support forming an embodiment of the invention as applied to a wall.
Figure 2 is the same as applied to a table.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view of the mounting and Figure 4 is a perspective view thereof.
Referring more in detail to the drawing the reference numeral l9 designates the heating apparatus which comprises the base or bottom wall l2 having a straight front edge I4. The apparatus is provided with the switch l6, time switch It, conductor cord 29, thermometer 22, links 24 and 26 and shield 28, all as previously described in the aforementioned patent.
One of the improvements embodied in the invention is the reflector shield 39 provided on the upper inner surface of the heating apparatus.
The mounting for the apparatus which is an improvement over the former stand employed comprises the cylindrical body 32 having the annular grooved ring 34 formed at approximately the center thereof. Immediately below the ring 34 is the threaded bore 36 to receive the screw 38 having the circular head 40 provided with apertures 42 through which fasteners 44 pass to secure the head 40 to a wall 46 or the like.
Below the bore 36 a second bore 48 is formed to receive the threaded end of the hook 50 by which the cord 20 may be hung and the bottom of the body is provided with a transverse elliptical groove 52 which is adapted to receive the complementary shaped rim portion =54 of the manicurist table 56.
A clamping bracket 58 having an adjustable screw 60 and stud 62 which received in the body 32 firmly fixes the body on the table 56.
Rotatably mounted on the body 32 is a cup shaped member 64 which is provided with a grooved peripheral flange 66 which is similarly shaped to the ring 34 though curved in the opposite direction to form a'ball race for the balls 68 thus permitting the member 64 to freely rotate.
Secured to the top of the member 64 by rivets ID are the parallel relatively spaced arms 12 which are secured to the heating apparatus I0 by rivets 14. By the above arrangement the heating apparatus may freely revolve on the body l0 however the body is provided with threaded bores 15 to receive the winged screw 18 whereby the member 54 may be locked in fixed relation to the body It).
Thus there has been provided a support by which the apparatus may be rotated in any desired direction or the support may be attached to a wall or table.
It is believed that the construction and operation of the invention will be obvious to those skilled in the art andit is to be understood that changes in the details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts may be resorted to provided they fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
A device of the character described, comprising a cylindrical body, means on said body for suspending said body from a support, a, cup-shaped member rotatably mounted on said body, parallel arms secured to said member, for supporting a housing thereon an annular grooved ring formed on said body at the center thereof and a grooved peripheral ring formed on said rotating member forming a ball race for balls.
