Be' it known that'I, FREDERICK MoHR, of the'city, county, andState of New York. have invented a new and useful Improvement in Platform 'Rocking-Chairs; and I herebydeelare the following to be a full, clear, and exact. description. thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in Whiel1` Figure l is a central vertical section, and Fig.'2a crosssection, of a chair embodying my 'inventiom l My invention relates to the construction andarran gement of a spring attachment connecting the rocking-chair and platform or stool, all as hereinafter fully described, and

pointed out in the claims.

In the drawing, A A represent the stool or platform, and B B the rockingchair, con-` structed. with correspondinglycurved (or a straight and curved) rocking bearings, and'of any appropriateV design. E Eare ornamental side pieces, attached to the enter side f the rockers B B, and extending downwardly,so

as to cover the rocking bearings. These side pieces secure a ne finish, and improve the appearance of the chair, and also serve to prevent the garments or ingers of the occupant being caught between the rocking bearings. Q vafa b b are cross-'bars for securing the parts, and to which the curved metallic springs D D C D D' are attached. `Tl1ese springs are ar- 4ranged diagonally, as shownq in FigA 1, Atheir ,opposite ends being secured to thecross-bars of the platform andfchair, respectively,.there .by allowing a rocking, and preventing a slid ing, movement of the chairand platform upon` each other', while the parallel arrangement of the. springs prevents a lateral movement of the same. In this instance I have shown the springs described arranged i-n pairs; but they may be'placed at equal distances apart, and-a greateror less number employed, as may be found necessary. 4 y

' vBetween the rear cross-bars ofthe platform andlcha'ir I have arranged and secured' a spring, C. This spring has a very delicate tension, d ue to its serpentine form, and, as it receives ithe greater portion of the direct' thr ust of the rocking-chair, a very easy motion is secured.
