The nature of my invention consists in providing-a common ladder with an adjustable double brace,-so attached to the. top of the` ladder as to permit it toA vturn and Yadjust itseltin any manner.

C isa lnetallieband,attached to the bottom end of i stile, and running the whole length of `the back of the.

ladder', and fastened to the back and endof eaeh'step, and to the'v head of the `stile thus support-ing the Steps. 4

B is a head, made'to turn in the upper end of the ladder.v

A is a double brace-'head, made lof iron, Awith two woodengbraces. v

This brace-head passes through the head B, so as to move'easily on its joint.

Now the swivel brace-head A, being made of iron', the. wooden braces may be driven permanently, and you have a brace'whieh will easily adjust itself to any uneven surface .on which it may be s'et.
