Abstract

The low voltage take-off of each toroid transformer is arranged so that a robust metal cover surrounds the transformer completely. The central conductor of the coaxial cable passes through a hole in the centre of a ring core provided with high voltage windings, and is connected electrically to the rear side of the cover. The high voltage winding is connected via two bushes through the cover in a complete transformer, and through a coaxial contact in a stand-by transformer. - The phase compensation capacitor may be replaced by a capacitance in the coaxial cable of each phase conductor, since a cable has such less inductance than an air-insulated lined. The transformer core pref. comprises plastic-insulated, approx. 0.3 mm soft steel plate instead of silicon iron plate. The plate is double or triple-layered with insulation between layers.
