Description
The invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, namely to electrochemical capacitors, and can be used as a collector of the current of a polarizable electrode in the electrode assembly of an electrochemical capacitor with an alkaline electrolyte.
197).A known method of manufacturing a porous base electrode of a nickel-cadmium battery, made of carbonyl nickel powder, pressed onto a metal mesh. (V.S.Bagotsky, A.M.Skundin, Chemical sources of current, M. Energoizdat, 1981 p. 197).
The disadvantages of this technical solution are the formation of oxide films on the nickel surface during operation of such a collector, which increases the contact resistance and reduces the power, as well as a large thickness (about 12 mm), which reduces the specific characteristics of the electrodes.
A known method of manufacturing a porous base electrode for an alkaline battery (RF Patent No. 2098894 publ. 10.12.1997 IPC N01M 4/80). This manufacturing method includes rolling nickel powder using an active lubricant and subsequent sintering in a reducing atmosphere, an organic solvent is introduced into the lubricant and the mixture is rolled through rolls.
The disadvantage of the technical solution is the insufficient carbonization of the surface, which occurs during thermal destruction of the organic binder and creates a protective layer against electrochemical oxidation.
A known method of manufacturing metal-carbon-containing bodies (selected as a prototype RF patent No. 2520874, publ. 27.06.2014 IPC В01G 37/02, 37/04), including ferromagnetic metal particles encapsulated with layers of graphite carbon, which includes impregnation (we have - contacting) cellulose, cellulose-like or carbohydrate bodies or bodies obtained from them by hydrothermal treatment (we have a carbon-containing precursor) with an aqueous solution of at least one metal compound (we have a metal-containing substrate) and the subsequent heating of the contact product in an inert and practically oxygen-deprived atmosphere with the reduction of at least part of the substrate to the corresponding metal or metal-carbon composite.
The disadvantage of the prototype of the method is the insufficient completeness of the carbonization reaction and, as a consequence, insufficient protective properties of the carbon layers.
The main problem in the development of a current collector for an electrochemical capacitor with an alkaline electrolyte is the oxidation of the conductive base material with the formation of an oxide layer with a reduced conductivity, which increases the internal resistance of the capacitor and decreases its power.
The technical result of the invention is to maintain a low contact resistance of the current collector of an electrochemical capacitor with an alkaline electrolyte during its cycling due to carbonization of the substrate surface.
The specified technical result is provided by a method for manufacturing a current collector, including contacting a carbon-containing precursor with a metal-containing substrate and subsequent heating of the contact product in an inert and practically oxygen-free atmosphere with the reduction of at least part of the substrate, and the metal-containing substrate is a nickel strip with an oxidized surface, and the carbon-containing precursor is natural gas, a metal-containing substrate is obtained by oxidizing a nickel strip in a furnace in an oxygen-containing atmosphere at a temperature of 895-905 ° C for 3 minutes, the metal-containing substrate contacts a carbon-containing precursor, natural gas at a temperature of 895-905 ° C in a furnace with a natural gas atmosphere for 2 minutes with reduction to metallic nickel and formation of a nickel-carbon composite, the resulting product is cooled in air.
The use of an oxidized nickel strip as a substrate makes it possible to more effectively adsorb methane molecules, as well as to catalyze the pyrolysis reaction with the formation of carbon and hydrogen. The carbon-containing precursor in the form of natural gas undergoes pyrolysis more easily and forms ultrafine carbon, which can be incorporated into the structure of nickel and strongly bind to it. Oxidation at a temperature of 895-905 ° C for 3 minutes provides the formation of an oxide film by a race, which can be easily reduced by the hydrogen formed during pyrolysis. As the temperature rises above 905 ° C and / or the exposure time, the film thickness increases, and upon subsequent carbonization, the nickel surface absorbs an insufficient amount of methane molecules. When held for 2 minutes in an atmosphere of natural gas, methane pyrolysis occurs and two parallel processes occur: reduction of nickel oxide to metallic nickel or nickel carbide (a layer with good catalytic activity); decomposition of natural gas (methane) into carbon and hydrogen. As a result, nickel carbide is formed on the nickel surface, which, upon subsequent cooling, partially decomposes into free carbon in the form of finely dispersed surface clusters and carbon partially embedded in the nickel structure. Carbonized by the proposed method, the surface of nickel during the operation of the capacitor with an alkaline electrolyte is not covered with a dense oxide film and does not lead to an increase in the transient resistance.
An example of the implementation of the method
This method uses nickel in the form of a plastic strip. Nickel strip wound on a coil was fed into a furnace with an oxygen-containing atmosphere and a temperature of 895-905 ° C, where the surface was pre-oxidized, at a speed of 1.4 m / min, which is equivalent to the strip being in the furnace for 3 minutes. Thereafter, the tape was passed through an oven with a temperature of 895-905 ° C and a natural gas medium at a speed of 1.6 m / min, which is equivalent to being in the oven for 2 minutes, after which the tape was cooled in air. Samples of current collectors with a geometric size of 75 × 48 mm in an amount of 20 pieces were cut from the carbonized nickel strip. The contact resistance of the sample was measured at several points on one side, then on the other. After that, a block of positive electrodes was assembled, wrapped in a polypropylene separator and a sample of a current collector. The assembled block was placed in a cell and filled with an alkali solution. The cell was placed in a thermostat, the positive electrode was connected to the control stand, the test sample to the negative terminal of the stand, the thermostat was heated to 80 ° C and held for 20 minutes.
Tests were carried out in the following mode:
1. Заряд током 2,5 А до напряжения 1,6 В;1. Charge with a current of 2.5 A to a voltage of 1.6 V;
2. Discharge with a current of 2.5 A to a voltage of 0.6 V
500.3. The number of cycles - 500.
After the test, the cell with the block was disassembled and washed with water, then with distilled water and dried.
Измерения контактного сопротивления показали, что изменение контактного сопротивления образцов составило от 5,5 до 15%, что считается приемлемым (не более 50%).The contact resistance of the sample was measured at several points on both sides after testing. The measurements of the contact resistance showed that the change in the contact resistance of the samples was from 5.5 to 15%, which is considered acceptable (no more than 50%).
Thus, the proposed method for manufacturing a current collector for an electrochemical capacitor allows maintaining a low contact resistance of the current collector of an electrochemical capacitor with an alkaline electrolyte during its cycling due to carbonization of the substrate surface.
