Abstract

The compressed air is injected through a nozzle (16) into an opening in the containers (C) to displace a portion of the container contents and form a sample cloud (18) outside the container in question. The sample cloud is then at least partially extracted by a suction force and the sample is analyzed for the presence of contaminants, such as nitrogenous compounds or hydrocarbons. In one embodiment, approx. 90% of the extracted sample from the analyzer (26) and recirculated into the air injector (14). A wide range of potential contaminants can be detected if the beverage bottles are stored without a capsule prior to the investigation, so that beverages of beverage products are allowed sufficient time to disperse.
