Abstract
Branngranat (201, 301) med en prosjek- tilhylse (312) fylt med en brannladning (314) og med en bakoverrettet åpning som er lukket av et bunnstykke (302). Når granaten treffer et mål (200) og slår gjennom dette tennes brannladningen av en tenner (304) slik at varme forbrenningsgasser setter opp et overtrykk inne i prosjektilhylsen (312). Innenfor millisekunder etter tenningen blir dette trykk så stort at bunnstykket (302) skytes bakover samtidig med at brennende deler av brannladningen (314) føres ut. Ved dette tidspunkt er altså branngranaten (201, 301) helt inne i målet (200), slik at disse brennende deler blir spredt inne i målet. Branngranaten kan også føre ytterligere nyttelast, så som kjemikalier, radioaktive materialer eller elek- troniske innretninger som også kan kastes ut fra pro- sjektilhylsen (312) inne i målet (200).
