Description
Fremgangsmåte til fremstilling av optisk lysgjorte polyestere.
Oppfinnelsen vedrører en fremgangsmåte til fremstilling av polyestere som har en optisk lysgjøringseffekt.
Det er kjent å appretere ferdige polyestere med optiske lysgjørere. Det ble også allerede tilsatt optisk virksomme stoffer til polyesteren under deres fremstillingsfrem-gangsmåte. I begge tilfeller er lysgjørings-effekten først meget god. Da stoffene imidlertid ikke er bundet kjemisk til fiberma-terialet, kommer det lett til en utblødning av lysgjøreren. Under innvirkning av vaskebad, f. eks., nedsetter dens konsentra-sjon seg i polyesteren fra vask til vask be-traktelig. Da de tidligere kjente optisk lysgj ørende stoffer ikke var kjemisk beslek-tet med polyestermaterialet og ofte er meget labile stoffer, undergår de ved de høye temperaturer som enten hersker ved frem-stillingsoperasjonen av polyesteren eller ved deres formningsfremgangsmåte, lett kjemiske forandringer og spaltningsreak-sjoner som utvirker på polyester-materi-alets kvalitet.
For å hindre utblødning av de optiske
lysgj ørere fra polyester-materialet er det også allerede foreslått å binde lysgj ørere kjemisk til polyestermaterialet. De nød-vendige fikserings-reaksjoner beskadiger
imidlertid polyesterne og dessuten forandres deres farge-forhold seg da fikserings-reaksjonen fortrinnsvis angriper på polyester-molekylets fri endegrupper.
Det er nå blitt funnet at man kan kom-me til ekstremt vaskebestandige og homo-gent optiske lysgjorte polyestere når man ved deres fremstilling innblander i dem 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre eller ester av denne syre med lavmolekylære alkoholer. 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre innbygges under poly-esternes fremstillingsprosess i de dannede polyesterpolymerkjeder og forankres kjemisk. Det har vist seg at den fremragende virkning som 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre har som optisk lysgj ører bibeholdes i full grad når denne syre er blitt et kjedeledd av det dannede polyestermolekyl. Spesielt egner det seg 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre til optisk lysgj øring av polyestere av tereftalsyre med alifatiske eller cykloalifatiske glykoler. Det viste seg at ved tilsetning av 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre influeres ikke disse po-lyesteres fremragende egenskaper, spesielt ikke den lette formbarhet, f. eks. til tråder og likså lite formningsproduktenes egenskaper. Ved tilsetning 1 pst. 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre forandres f. eks. ikke engang mykningspunktet av polyetylentereftalat og ved større tilsetningsmengder iakttar man bare en liten senkning. Men bare med en tilsetning på 0,1 pst. oppnås en fremragende optisk lysgjøringseffekt.
Da de optisk lysgj ørende stoffer på begge sider er kjemisk forbundet med poly-esterens molekyl, kan de ikke fjernes ved noen vaskefremgangsmåte eller annen eks-traherings-fremgangsmåte fra polyesteren. Dermed er det oppnådd en hittil ukjent vaskebestandighet av det lysgjorte mate-rial. Dessuten inneholder polyesterne som er lysgjorte ifølge oppfinnelsen, nøyaktig så mange fri endegrupper som ikke lysgjorte polymere, og det unngås alle ulemper som er forbundet med en blokkering av ende-gruppene spesielt med hensyn til farge-og vannopptakelsesevne.
Da metoksygruppene av 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre har vist seg som helt resistente under fremstillings- og formnings-betin-gelsene for polyesterne, kan man i polyesterne også innblande større mengder av lysgj ørere uten å måtte bef rykte nettdan-nelsesreaksj oner.
For fremstilling av optisk lysgjorte polyestere ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen egner det seg alle kjente metoder til fremstilling av polyestere, f. eks. den ar-beidsmåte hvor man går ut fra i karbon-syrens alkylestere og omestrer denne i et første trinn ved esterutvekslingsreaksj onen med glykoler til diglykolesterne av dikar-bonsyrene. De dannede dikarbonsyredigly-kolestere blir deretter i et annet frem-gangsmåtetrinn, for det meste under an-vendelse av nedsatt trykk, polykondensert til de ønskede høypolymere. Benytter man denne fremgangsmåte så setter man 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre, fortrinnsvis i form av dens dimetylester, til dikarbonsyredial-kylesterne før omestrings-reaksjonen. Under omestrings-reaksjonen danner det seg da den tilsvarende 2,5-dimetoksytereftal-syrediglykolester som ved den etterfølgen-de polykondensasjon innbygges under av-spaltning av glykol i de dannede polyester-molekylkjeder. Tilsetningen av 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre er imidlertid også mulig ved ethvert senere tidspunkt ved frem-stillingsr eaksj onen.
Følgende eksempler skal nærmere for-klare oppfinnelsen.
Eksempel 1.
100 kg dimetyltereftalat og 0,1 kg di-metyl-2,5-dimetoksytereftalat ble i nærvær av 0,01 vektpst. sinkacetat og 0,02 vekts-
pst. manganacetat omestret i en omrø-ringsautoklav ved 160°C til 200°C med 90 kg. etylenglykol. Den frigjorte metanol ble fjernet destillativt fra reaksjonskaret. Da denne reaksjon var avsluttet etter 2 timer, ble ved ytterligere temperaturøkning, ytterligere 32 liter etylenglykol avdestillert, deretter tilsatt 0,02 vekts-pst. antimon-trioksyd og 0,5 vekts-pst. i etylenglykol suspendert titandioksyd og vakuum an-lagt på reaksjonskaret.
I løpet av 30 minutter senker trykket seg til 1 mm Hg. Ved slutten av den etter-følgende, ca. 90 minutter varende polykon-densasjonstid ble det oppnådd en tempera-tur på 280°C. Det dannede blandingspolyester ble utpresset som bånd overført i fast form i vann og granulert. Det hadde etmyk-ningspunkt på 261 °C og viste i UV-lys in-tens blåfluorescens. Polymeren lar seg forme etter den kjente smeltespinnefrem-gangsmåte til tråder som var fremragende optisk lysgjorte.
Eksempel 2.
På samme måte som beskrevet i eksempel 1, ble det av 100 kg. dimetyltereftalat og 1,0 kg dimetyl-2,5-dimetoksytereita-lat fremstilt en blandingspolyester som in-neholdt de optisk lysgj ørende komponenter i 1,0 pst. Også denne polymer hadde et mykningspunkt på 260 °C og lot seg uten vanskelighet forme til tråder av høy kvalitet som var optisk lysgj ort i samme grad som den polymere.
Det er blitt foretatt sammenlignings-forsøk med tråder fremstillet ifølge eksempel 1 og med polyestertråder, hvortil det var satt en konvensjonell optisk lysgj ører Uvitex ERN. Begge trådkategorier ble un-dersøkt på deres vaskeekthet ifølge for-skriftene DIN 54 010 og 54 011. Det frem-kom følgende resultat:
Undersøkelsen av vaskeekthet B ble gjennomført ved 60°C i et vaskebad med 5 g Marseiller såpe pr. liter og 2 g soda pr. liter, og undersøkelsene på vaskeekthet C foregikk med samme såpeoppløsning ved
95°C. Tallet 1 er det dårligste og tallet 5 det beste tall som kan gis.
Overlegenheten ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen kan også iakttas med det blåtte øyet. En måling av den ultravio-lette fluoresens viser samme forskjell.
Claims (1)
- Fremgangsmåte til fremstilling av optisk lysgjorte polyestere, karakterisert ved at man setter 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre eller 2,5-dimetoksytereftalsyre-alkylester til polyesterene ved deres fremstilling og innkondenserer dem i de dannede polymere.
