Abstract
Se describe un método para modernizar una instalación de producción de amoniaco, teniendo la instalación de producción de amoniaco un etapa inicial que comprende uno o más reformadores alimentados con materia prima de hidrocarburo a una velocidad de alimentación de materia prima de hidrocarburo y una alimentación de reactor de desplazamiento a alta temperatura con un gas reformado obtenido de uno o más reformadores y que contienen un lecho fijo de catalizador de desplazamiento de agua-gas que contiene hierro, operando la etapa inicial a una primera relación de vapor a carbono y una primera caída de presión, el método comprende los pasos de (i) reemplazar el catalizador de desplazamiento de agua-gas que contiene hierro con un catalizador de desplazamiento de agua-gas bajo en vapor para formar un etapa inicial modificado, (ii) operar la etapa inicial modificado en una segunda relación de vapor a carbono y una segunda caída de presión, donde la segunda relación de vapor a carbono es al menos 0.2 menor que la primera relación de vapor a carbono y la segunda caída de presión es menor que la primera caída de presión, y (iii) incrementar la velocidad de alimentación de materia prima de hidrocarburo a uno o más reformadores.
