Abstract

액정이 한쌍의 기판사이에 배치되는 활성 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치에서 두개의 TFT는 기판상에 형성된 각각의 대응전극(하나의 픽셀에 대해)과 접속된다.
액정은 두개의 TFT에 의해 구동되고 수위칭된다.
액정에 인가된 전압은 두개의 TFT에 의해 분할되기 때문에, TFT의 항복 전압보다 더 큰 전압이 액정에 인가되어, TFT에 인가된 전압, 즉 각각의 TFT의 소스 및 드레인 사이에 인가된 전압은 감소된다. 전압 각각은 반대 위상을 갖는다.

제1도는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 전기-광학장치에서 매트릭스 형태로 배치된 개략의 픽셀부분을 보여주는 도면, 제10A도 내지 제10C도는 주변회로를 갖는 액정 디스플레이 판넬의 개략의 구조를 보여주는 도면, 제11도는 실시예에 따라 전기-광학장치에서 매트릭스 형태로 배치되는 픽셀부분의 회로 배치를 보여주는 도면.

Claims (18)

  1. 적어도 한쌍의 전극; 전극사이에 배치된 액정재료; 하나의 전극과 접속된 제1스위칭소자; 및 다른 전극과 접속된 제2스위칭 소자를 포함하는 전기-광학장치.
  2. 한쌍의 기판; 기판사이에 배치된 액정재료; 액정재료에 전압을 인가하기 위한 전극; 및 각각의 기판상에 매트릭스 형태로 형성되고 각각의 대응전극과 접속된 스위칭 소자를 포함하는 전기-광학장치.
  3. 한쌍의 전극; 전극사이에 배치된 액정재료; 동일한 극성을 갖고 각각의 대응전극과 접속된 박막트랜지스터를 포함하고, 두개의 박막트랜지스터가 동시에 동작되는 전기-광학장치.
  4. 한쌍의 전극; 전극사이에 배치된 액정재료; 하나의 전극과 접속된 적어도 하나의 N채널형 박막트랜지스터; 및 다른 전극과 접속된 적어도 하나의 P채널형 박막트랜지스터를 포함하고, N채널형 박막트랜지스터 및 P채널형 박막트랜지스터가 동시에 동작되는 전기-광학장치.
  5. 한쌍의 전극; 전극사이에 배치된 액정재료; 하나의 전극과 접속된 적어도 하나의 제1박막트랜지스터; 및 다른 전극과 접속된 적어도 하나의 제2박막트랜지스터를 포함하고, 제1위상을 갖는 신호는 제1박막트랜지스터의 소스에 공급되고, 제1위상에 반대인 제2위상을 갖는 신호는 제2박막트랜지스터의 소스에 공급되는 전기-과학장치.
  6. 한쌍의 기판; 기판사이에 배치된 액정재료; 각각의 기판상에 매트릭스 형태로 배치된 전극; 각각의 대응 전극을 위해 형성된 스위칭 소자; 및 스위칭 소자를 구동시키기 위한 구동회로를 포함하는 전기-광학장치.
  7. 한쌍의 전극; 전극사이에 배치된 액정재료; 및 각각의 대응전극을 위해 형성된 스위칭 소자를 포함하고, 하나의 전극을 위한 하나의 스위칭 소자가 다른 전극을 위한 또 다른 하나의 스위칭 소자와 겹쳐지는 전기-광학장치.
  8. 한쌍의 전극; 전극사이에 배치된 액정재료; 및 각각의 대응전극을 위해 형성된 스위칭 소자를 포함하고, 하나의 전극을 위한 하나의 스위칭 소자가 다른 전극을 위한 또 다른 하나의 스위칭 소자와 겹쳐지지 않는 전기-광학장치.
  9. 한쌍의 전극; 전극사이에 배치된 액정재료; 및 각각의 대응전극을 위해 형성된 스위칭 소자를 포함하고, 하나의 픽셀전극이 다른 픽셀 전극으로부터 이동되는 전기-광학장치.
  10. 한쌍의 기판; 각각이 적어도 하나의 스위칭 소자를 갖고 각각의 대응 기판상에 각각 형성된 한쌍의 활성 매트릭스 회로; 기판상에 형성되고 각각의 대응스위칭 소자가 접속되는 픽셀전극; 및 픽셀전극 사이에 배치된 액정재료를 포함하는 활성 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  11. 제10항에 있어서, 스위칭 소자가 P-채널형 박막 트랜지스터를 포함하는 활성 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  12. 제10항에 있어서, 스위칭 소자가 N-채널형 박막 트랜지스터를 포함하는 활성 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  13. 한쌍의 기판; 각각이 적어도 하나의 스위칭 소자를 갖고 각각의 대응 기판상에 각각 형성된 한쌍의 활성 매트릭스 회로; 기판상에 형성되고 각각이 대응스위칭 소자가 접속되는 픽셀전극; 매트릭스 회로를 구동시키기 위한 구동기를 포함하고, 하나의 구동기는 하나의 활성 매트릭스 회로의 스위칭 소자에 제1위상을 갖는 전압을 공급하고, 다른 구동기는 다른 활성 매트릭스 회로에 제1위상에 반대인 제2위산을 갖는 전압을 공급하는 활성 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  14. 제13항에 있어서, 스위칭 소자가 P-채널형 박막 트랜지스터를 포함하는 활성 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  15. 제13항에 있어서, 스위칭 소자가 N-채널형 박막 트랜지스터를 포함하는 활성 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  16. 적어도 한쌍의 픽셀 전극; 픽셀전극 사이에 배치된 액정재료; 및 각각의 대응픽셀 전극과 접속된 적어도 한쌍의 박막 트랜지스터를 포함하는 활성 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  17. 제16항에 있어서, 박막 트랜지스터를 구동시키기 위한 적어도 한쌍의 구동기를 각각 추가로 포함하는 활성 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  18. 제17항에 있어서, 제1위상을 갖는 전압은 하나의 박막 트랜지스터에 공급되고, 제1위상에 반대인 제2위상을 갖는 전압은 다른 박막 트랜지스터에 공급되는 활성 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
