Description

A color filter is a thin film-type optical component that extracts three colors, red, green, and blue, from white light and functions in tiny pixel units. The size of one pixel is about tens to hundreds of micrometers. The color filter is a black matrix layer formed in a predetermined pattern on a transparent substrate to block light at the boundary between each pixel, and a plurality of colors (typically red (R), green (G), and It has a structure in which pixel units in which the three primary colors (blue (B)) are arranged in a certain order are stacked one after another. In general, color filters can be manufactured by coating three or more colors on a transparent substrate using dyeing, electrodeposition, printing, or pigment dispersion methods. Recently, pigment dispersion methods using pigment-dispersed photosensitive resins are mainly used. there is.
According to the pigment dispersion method, which is one of the methods of implementing a color filter, first, a photosensitive resin composition containing a colorant, alkali-soluble resin, photopolymerization monomer, photopolymerization initiator, epoxy resin, solvent, and other additives is deposited on a transparent substrate provided with a black matrix. Coat on the substrate. Afterwards, a colored thin film can be formed by repeating a series of processes of exposing the pattern of the shape to be formed, removing the non-exposed area with a solvent and heat curing.
그러나, 색 재현은 광원에서 조사된 광이 컬러필터를 투과하여 구현되는 것인데, 이 과정에서 광의 일부가 컬러필터에 흡수되므로 광 효율이 저하될 수 있다. 또한, 색 필터로써의 안료특성으로 인하여 완벽한 색 재현성이 확보되지 않을 수 있다.However, color reproduction is achieved by light emitted from a light source passing through a color filter, and in this process, part of the light is absorbed by the color filter, which may reduce light efficiency. Additionally, perfect color reproducibility may not be secured due to the characteristics of the pigment as a color filter.

Since the compound has a functional group capable of forming a coordination bond by holding a lone pair of electrons, it can form a complex by chemically bonding to the surface of the quantum dot particle. In particular, since the functional groups are located at both ends of the molecule, multiple coordination bonds are possible through a plurality of coordination sites, allowing stronger bonding to the surface of the quantum dot particle. In this case, the core of the quantum dot particle can be protected from the external environment by the shell, and the compound can be more stably bound to the surface of the quantum dot particle. The quantum dot particles receive energy from the outside, reach an excited state, and can emit energy (for example, light) according to the energy band gap of the quantum dot. Specifically, quantum dot particles may be capable of photo luminescence, which emits light by light irradiation, or electroluminescence, which emits light by applying electric current. Quantum dot particles can be applied as a light-emitting material in various fields such as display devices, energy devices, or bioluminescent devices due to the above-described light-emitting properties.

The energy bandgap emitted from the quantum dot particles can be selected by controlling the nanocrystal size and/or composition of the quantum dot particles. For example, as the size of a quantum dot particle decreases, it can have a wider energy band gap and the emission wavelength can decrease. 또한, 컬러필터를 포함하는 일반적인 화상 표시 장치의 경우 조사된 백색광이 컬러필터를 투과하여 컬러가 구현되는 과정에서 광의 일부가 컬러필터에 흡수될 수 있다. 이에 따라, 컬러필터를 투과하는 과정에서 광 효율이 저하될 수 있다.Additionally, in the case of a general image display device including a color filter, a portion of the light may be absorbed by the color filter in the process of implementing color by transmitting the irradiated white light through the color filter. The core may be a part where light emission occurs. The shell can serve to improve the stability and efficiency of quantum dot particles by preventing oxidation of the core and reducing the trap energy level on the surface.
The materials that make up each core and shell may be made of different compounds. For example, the core may be GaN, GaP, GaAs, GaSb, AlN, AlP, AlAs, AlSb, InN, InP, InAs, InSb, InNP, InZnP, InNAs, InNSb, InPAs, InPSb GaInPAs, GaInPSb, InAlNP, InAlNAs, It may include one or more materials selected from the group consisting of InAlNSb, InAlPAs, InAlPSb, and mixtures thereof. Preferably, the core may include In and P, and the shell may include Zn, Se and/or S.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 상기 양자점 입자의 평균 입경(D50)은 약 5nm 내지 12nm일 수 있다. 예를 들면, 평균 입경(D50)은 누적 입경 분포에 있어서 체적분율 50%에서의 입자 직경을 의미할 수 있다.According to exemplary embodiments, the average particle diameter (D 50 ) of the quantum dot particles may be about 5 nm to 12 nm. For example, the average particle diameter (D 50 ) may mean the particle diameter at 50% of the volume fraction in the cumulative particle diameter distribution.
In some embodiments, when the quantum dot particles have a core-shell structure, the average particle diameter of the core may be about 2 nm to 5 nm, and the thickness of the shell may be about 2 nm to 10 nm. When the average particle diameter and thickness are within the above range, the dispersibility of the quantum dot particles can be improved, and color realization and luminous efficiency can be further improved. Therefore, for example, the fairness of the quantum dot composition can be improved, and the desired color can be efficiently realized by light irradiation.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상기 쉘은 하나 이상의 쉘층을 포함하는 다층쉘(multi-layered shell) 구조일 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 양자점 입자는 코어, 상기 코어를 덮는 제1 쉘층, 및 상기 제1 쉘층을 덮는 제2 쉘층을 포함할 수 있다.In some embodiments, the shell may have a multi-layered shell structure including one or more shell layers. For example, the quantum dot particle may include a core, a first shell layer covering the core, and a second shell layer covering the first shell layer.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상기 다층쉘 구조에서 인접하는 코어 및 쉘층들은 서로 상이한 조성을 가질 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 코어는 InP, 및/또는 InZnP를 포함할 수 있으며, 상기 제1 쉘층은 ZnSe 및/또는 ZnSeS를 포함할 수 있고, 상기 제2 쉘층은 ZnS를 포함할 수 있다.In some embodiments, adjacent core and shell layers in the multi-layer shell structure may have different compositions. For example, the core may include InP, and/or InZnP, the first shell layer may include ZnSe and/or ZnSeS, and the second shell layer may include ZnS.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 상기 양자점 입자는 입자의 중심 및 표면 사이에 형성된 농도 경사 영역을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 양자점 입자의 특정 원소 중 적어도 하나는 입자의 중심으로부터 입자의 표면으로 갈수록 농도가 변할 수 있다.According to exemplary embodiments, the quantum dot particle may include a concentration gradient region formed between the center and the surface of the particle. For example, the concentration of at least one specific element of a quantum dot particle may change from the center of the particle to the surface of the particle.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 입자의 중심으로부터 입자의 표면으로 향할수록 Se의 농도가 연속적으로 감소할 수 있으며, S의 농도가 연속적으로 증가할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 쉘은 Se 및 S의 농도가 교차하는 교차점을 가질 수 있다. 상기 교차점은 Se 및 S의 농도가 동일할 수 있다.In some embodiments, the concentration of Se may continuously decrease and the concentration of S may continuously increase as it moves from the center of the particle to the surface of the particle. For example, the shell may have an intersection where Se and S concentrations intersect. The intersection point may have the same concentration of Se and S.
If Se is present on the surface of the quantum dot particle, Se may be oxidized due to long-term exposure to external light and oxygen, and thus the structure of the quantum dot particle may collapse. As the concentration of Se decreases and the concentration of S increases toward the surface of the quantum dot particles, the optical properties of the quantum dot particles according to exemplary embodiments may be improved, and durability and structural stability may be excellent.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상기 양자점 입자는 카드뮴(Cd)을 실질적으로 포함하지 않는 비카드뮴계 양자점일 수 있다. 이에 따라, 카드뮴으로 인한 환경 또는 인체 유해 문제를 방지할 수 있다.In some embodiments, the quantum dot particles may be non-cadmium-based quantum dots that substantially do not contain cadmium (Cd). Accordingly, environmental or human health problems caused by cadmium can be prevented.
In some embodiments, the quantum dot particles may be synthesized by a wet chemical process, metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), or molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). You can. The wet chemical process is a method of growing particles by adding precursor materials to an organic solvent. When a crystal grows, the organic solvent is coordinated to the surface of the quantum dot crystal, acts as a dispersant, and regulates the growth of the crystal. Accordingly, the growth of crystals can be controlled through an easier and cheaper process than vapor deposition methods such as an organometallic chemical vapor deposition process or a molecular beam epitaxy process.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상기 양자점 입자의 함량은 양자점 조성물의 고형분 총 중량 중 1중량% 내지 50중량%일 수 있다. 상기 양자점 입자의 함량이 1중량% 미만인 경우, 양자점 입자에 의한 발광 효율이 저하될 수 있다. 상기 양자점 입자의 함량이 50중량% 초과인 경우, 상대적으로 다른 조성의 함량이 부족하여 경화 패턴을 형성하기 어려울 수 있다. In some embodiments, the content of the quantum dot particles may be 1% to 50% by weight of the total solid weight of the quantum dot composition. If the content of the quantum dot particles is less than 1% by weight, the luminous efficiency by the quantum dot particles may decrease. When the content of the quantum dot particles is more than 50% by weight, it may be difficult to form a cured pattern due to the relatively insufficient content of other compositions.
바람직하게는, 상기 양자점 입자의 함량은 양자점 조성물의 고형분 총 중량 중 3중량% 내지 30중량%일 수 있다. Preferably, the content of the quantum dot particles may be 3% to 30% by weight of the total solid weight of the quantum dot composition.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 본 발명의 양자점 조성물은 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함할 수 있다. According to exemplary embodiments, the quantum dot composition of the present invention may include a compound represented by Formula 1 below.
[화학식 1][Formula 1]
상기 화학식 1에서, Ro은 탄소수 1 내지 10의 옥시알킬렌기일 수 있다. 본 출원에서 사용된 용어 “옥시알킬렌기”란 직쇄 또는 분지쇄 형태의 포화 탄화수소의 메틸렌기(-CH2-) 중 하나가 산소 원자로 치환된 2가의 작용기를 의미한다.In Formula 1, R o may be an oxyalkylene group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms. The term “oxyalkylene group” used in this application refers to a divalent functional group in which one of the methylene groups (-CH 2 -) of a straight-chain or branched saturated hydrocarbon is replaced with an oxygen atom.
예를 들면, Ro는 옥시메틸렌기, 옥시에틸렌기, 옥시프로필렌기, 옥시부틸렌기 및 옥시펜틸렌기 중 적어도 하나일 수 있다.For example, R o may be at least one of an oxymethylene group, an oxyethylene group, an oxypropylene group, an oxybutylene group, and an oxypentylene group.
상기 화학식 1에서, [Ro]n 중 Ro는 동일한 옥시알킬렌기로 구성될 수 있다. 예를 들면, [Ro]n은 폴리옥시에틸렌기 또는 폴리옥시프로필렌기일 수 있다. In Formula 1, R o among [R o ] n may consist of the same oxyalkylene group. For example, [R o ] n may be a polyoxyethylene group or a polyoxypropylene group.
또한, [Ro]n은 서로 다른 옥시알킬렌기를 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들면, [Ro]n은 서로 다른 옥시알킬렌기의 공중합을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들면, [Ro]n에는 옥시에틸렌기 및 옥시프로필렌기의 랜덤 공중합 또는 블록 공중합 구조가 포함될 수 있다.Additionally, [R o ] n may include different oxyalkylene groups. For example, [R o ] n may include a copolymerization of different oxyalkylene groups. For example, [R o ] n may include a random copolymerization or block copolymerization structure of an oxyethylene group and an oxypropylene group.
바람직하게는, 상기 Ro는 옥시에틸렌기일 수 있다. 이 경우, 배위 결합 복합체의 극성 및 산소/수분 배리어 특성이 적절히 조절될 수 있으며, 극성 용매에 대한 분산성 및 산화 방지 특성이 균형있게 향상될 수 있다.Preferably, R o may be an oxyethylene group. In this case, the polarity and oxygen/moisture barrier properties of the coordination complex can be appropriately adjusted, and the dispersibility and antioxidant properties in polar solvents can be improved in a balanced manner.
In general, the ligand used in the quantum dot composition is composed of an aliphatic chain with a high carbon content, so the quantum dot particles may be substantially soluble only in non-polar solvents. Therefore, it has low dispersibility in polar organic solvents or water mainly used in the display manufacturing process, and aggregation of quantum dot particles may occur. In this case, for example, fairness and compatibility in color filter manufacturing may be poor, and sufficient light efficiency may not be provided.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물이 주 사슬(main chain) 내에 옥시알킬렌기(Ro) 또는 에스테르기를 포함함에 따라, 양자점 입자 및 상기 화합물의 배위 결합 복합체가 전체적으로 극성을 가질 수 있다. 이에 따라, 양자점 입자가 극성 용매에 대해서도 우수한 용해성 및 분산성을 가질 수 있다. According to exemplary embodiments, as the compound represented by Formula 1 includes an oxyalkylene group (R o ) or an ester group in the main chain, the quantum dot particles and the coordination complex of the compound are overall polar. You can have it. Accordingly, quantum dot particles can have excellent solubility and dispersibility even in polar solvents.
본 출원에서 사용된 용어 “주 사슬”이란 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물의 분자 구조 중 가장 긴 원자의 연쇄로 이루어지는 부분을 의미한다. 예를 들면, 상기 화합물의 주 골격으로부터 분지된 측쇄(side chain) 또는 펜던트 그룹(pendant group)은 배제하는 부분을 나타낸다.The term “main chain” used in this application refers to the portion consisting of the longest chain of atoms in the molecular structure of the compound represented by Formula 1 above. For example, a side chain or pendant group branched from the main skeleton of the compound represents an excluded moiety.
상기 화학식 1에서, n은 1 내지 10의 정수일 수 있다. n이 10을 초과하는 경우, 상기 화합물 말단에서의 극성이 지나치게 높아짐에 따라, 산화 방지성이 저하될 수 있으며, 화합물 간 응집이 발생할 수 있다.In Formula 1, n may be an integer from 1 to 10. When n exceeds 10, as the polarity at the terminal of the compound becomes too high, antioxidant properties may decrease and aggregation between compounds may occur.
상기 화학식 1에서, R1 및 R2는 각각 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 10의 지방족 탄화수소기 또는 탄소수 6 내지 12의 방향족 탄화수소기이고, 상기 지방족 탄화수소기는 옥소기로 치환될 수 있다. In Formula 1, R 1 and R 2 are each independently an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or an aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, and the aliphatic hydrocarbon group may be substituted with an oxo group.
For example, R 1 and R 2 are each independently an alkylene group with 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkenylene group with 2 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkynylene group with 2 to 10 carbon atoms, and a cycloalkylene group with 3 to 10 carbon atoms. It may be ringed or substituted with an oxo group, or it may be an arylene group with 6 to 12 carbon atoms, an arylalkylene group with 6 to 12 carbon atoms, or an alkylarylene group with 6 to 12 carbon atoms.
바람직하게는, 상기 R1 및 R2는 각각 독립적으로 비치환된 또는 옥소기로 치환된 탄소수 1 내지 10의 알킬렌기일 수 있다. Preferably, R 1 and R 2 may each independently be an alkylene group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms that is unsubstituted or substituted with an oxo group.
상기 화학식 1에서, Y 및 Z는 각각 독립적으로 티올기, 아민기, 카르복시기, 인산기, 황산기, 및 카테콜기로 구성된 그룹으로부터 선택되는 하나일 수 있다. In Formula 1, Y and Z may each independently be selected from the group consisting of a thiol group, an amine group, a carboxyl group, a phosphoric acid group, a sulfuric acid group, and a catechol group.
For example, the cured pattern can be used as a color filter in a display device, as will be described later.
In forming the cured pattern, a photosensitive film may be formed by applying the quantum dot composition according to exemplary embodiments on a substrate. 상기 컬러 필터가 디스플레이 장치에 적용되는 경우, 컬러 필터에 포함되는 양자점 입자가 광원의 광에 의해 자체적으로 발광하므로, 광효율이 우수할 수 있다. 또한, 색상을 가진 광이 방출됨에 따라 색 재현성이 우수할 수 있으며, 양자점 입자에 의해 전 방향으로 광이 방출되므로 시야각도 개선할 수 있다.When the color filter is applied to a display device, the quantum dot particles included in the color filter emit light by themselves by the light of the light source, so light efficiency may be excellent. As described above, the quantum dot composition according to exemplary embodiments includes the compound represented by Formula 1, and thus may have excellent dispersibility and durability in polar solvents. Therefore, a cured pattern with excellent reliability, stability, and optical properties can be provided from the above-described quantum dot composition.
After applying the quantum dot composition according to Examples and Comparative Examples on a glass substrate by spin coating, it was placed on a heating plate and maintained at a temperature of 100°C for 3 minutes to form a thin film. (1) 양자점 입자의 분산성 평가(1) Evaluation of dispersibility of quantum dot particles
The quantum dot particles prepared in Synthesis Examples 1 to 7 were dispersed in PGMEA (Propylene Glycol, Mono Methyl, Ether, Acetate) solvent to prepare a quantum dot dispersion solution containing 50% by weight of solid content. Afterwards, the particle size of the prepared quantum dot dispersion solution was measured using a particle size analyzer. The lower the dispersibility, the larger the particle size of the quantum dots may be due to agglomeration. The evaluation results are shown in Table 2 below.
상기 표 2를 참조하면, 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물로 표면 개질된 합성예 1 내지 4의 경우, 분산 용액에서 양자점 입자의 입도가 작은 것을 확인할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 극성 용매 내에서 양자점 입자의 응집이 억제되며, 분산성이 우수함을 예측할 수 있다.Referring to Table 2, it can be seen that in the case of Synthesis Examples 1 to 4 in which the surface was modified with the compound represented by Formula 1 according to exemplary embodiments, the particle size of the quantum dot particles in the dispersion solution was small. Accordingly, it can be predicted that aggregation of quantum dot particles in a polar solvent is suppressed and dispersibility is excellent.
반면, 에테르기를 포함하지 않는 화합물로 표면 개질된 합성예 5의 경우, 극성 용매에 대한 분산성이 낮아, 양자점 입자 간 응집이 과도하게 발생하여 입도가 매우 높은 것을 확인할 수 있다. 일반적인 알킬 체인 구조의 화합물의 경우, PGMEA와 같은 극성 유기용매 내에서 분산성이 매우 열화임을 확인할 수 있다.On the other hand, in the case of Synthesis Example 5, in which the surface was modified with a compound not containing an ether group, the dispersibility in polar solvents was low, and excessive aggregation between quantum dot particles occurred, resulting in a very high particle size. In the case of compounds with a general alkyl chain structure, it can be confirmed that the dispersibility in polar organic solvents such as PGMEA is very poor.
(2) 저장 안정성 평가(2) Storage stability evaluation
실시예 및 비교예에 따른 양자점 조성물을 상온에 방치하고, 점도계(Brookfield 제)를 사용하여 시간 경과에 따른 점도를 측정하였다. 점도 경시 변화가 적고, 점도가 낮을수록 저장 안정성이 우수하다. 평가 결과는 하기의 표 3에 나타내었다.The quantum dot compositions according to the examples and comparative examples were left at room temperature, and the viscosity over time was measured using a viscometer (manufactured by Brookfield). There is little change in viscosity over time, and the lower the viscosity, the better the storage stability. The evaluation results are shown in Table 3 below.
(3) 광 효율 및 내구성 평가(3) Evaluation of light efficiency and durability
Light efficiency was calculated by irradiating blue light to the manufactured color filter and measuring the degree of conversion to green light. Light efficiency was measured using QE-2000 (manufactured by Otsuka Corporation), and as blue light of 450 nm was applied to the color filter, all green light emitted in all directions was absorbed and calculated as an integral value. Light efficiency was calculated as a percentage of the increase in the peak converted to green light compared to the decrease in the blue light absorption peak.
In addition, after the color filter was left in a blue light source at room temperature for 7 days, the light efficiency was measured and the decrease was calculated. Since light efficiency decreases due to oxidation of quantum dot particles, light durability can be confirmed by measuring light efficiency after leaving. Light durability was expressed as a percentage of the ratio of light efficiency after neglect to initial light efficiency. Higher durability means superior oxidation stability.
평가 결과는 하기의 표 3에 함께 나타내었다.The evaluation results are shown in Table 3 below.

Referring to Table 3, it can be seen that in the case of color filters manufactured using quantum dot compositions according to exemplary embodiments, the change in viscosity over time is small, and both the initial light efficiency and the light efficiency after leaving are excellent. Therefore, for example, a compound containing a thiol group or catechol group located at both ends of the molecule binds strongly to the quantum dot particles by forming multiple coordination bonds, so the change in the light efficiency of the quantum dot particles was small, and oxidation of the quantum dot particles was small. It can be seen that the durability is excellent.
On the other hand, in the case of color filters manufactured using the quantum dot compositions according to comparative examples, it can be seen that the viscosity increases significantly over time, and the light efficiency and durability decrease. Therefore, when the compound included in the quantum dot composition has only one coordination site, the viscosity increases significantly as it does not prevent the intrusion of oxygen or moisture, the bonding force between the quantum dot particles and the compound is low, and durability is reduced, and the quantum dot particles It can be seen that the initial light efficiency and the light efficiency after leaving are low due to oxidation.
