Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing a solid electrolyte powder, and more particularly, to a method for producing a solid electrolyte powder having a spherical shape as a multi-component oxide solid electrolyte used in a lithium battery.
Recently, research on secondary batteries has been actively conducted as an alternative to fossil fuel depletion and environmental problems. In particular, lithium-ion secondary batteries have attracted attention as the most promising batteries because of their high energy density and output.
However, the conventional lithium ion secondary battery has a safety problem using a combustible liquid electrolyte. When repeated high-speed charging/discharging according to recent market demand, lithium ions that do not penetrate inside the crystal of the electrode material form lithium crystal nuclei and plate-like crystals on the electrode surface, and form dendritic crystals of lithium metal. Is done. Through these dendritic crystals, perforation of the separator occurs, and a short circuit occurs in the battery to generate heat. The combustible liquid electrolyte inside the battery is burned by the heat generated by the heat, and in severe cases, it leads to an explosion.
The risk of these lithium ion secondary batteries tends to become more serious according to the recent market demand. 2. Description of the Related Art Recently, secondary batteries are becoming highly integrated, large-capacity, and high-output according to market demands such as electric vehicles and large-capacity energy storage facilities. As a result, the likelihood of generating dendritic crystals of lithium metal increases, and heat exchange rate decreases as battery size increases The increase in heat accumulation, high integration, and the increase in the absolute amount of the liquid electrolyte due to the large-capacity increase the existing stability problems during explosion and combustion.
In order to overcome the disadvantages of lithium ion secondary batteries, research has been conducted to replace organic liquid electrolytes with lithium ion conductive inorganic solid electrolytes. Examples of the inorganic solid electrolyte include solid electrolytes such as sulfide-based and oxide-based.
The sulfide-based solid electrolyte has the advantage of exhibiting high ionic conductivity close to that of the existing liquid electrolyte at the level of 10 -2 S/cm, but it has low chemical stability in air, reacts with moisture, and generates hydrogen sulfide gas, affecting the environment. . Therefore, an inert atmosphere is required during manufacturing and processing, which makes the process difficult, and increases the process cost.
On the other hand, the oxide-based solid electrolyte has the advantage of being able to manufacture and process in air due to its high chemical stability against air and moisture. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the process cost, and it is attracting attention as a lithium ion conductor of the next generation lithium ion secondary battery.
The oxide-based solid electrolyte has an ionic conductivity of up to 10 -3 S/cm, but it has a high hardness and has solid particle characteristics, so compression and sintering are essential after powder preparation for molding. The compression and sintering process generally proceeds at a high temperature of 1000° C. or higher, and at this high temperature, lithium ions have volatility, which makes it difficult to control the composition of the solid electrolyte. In addition, if the shape is not uniform or the particle size is large, voids are easily generated inside the sintered body, and the roughness of the surface of the sintered body becomes large, making it difficult to bond with the electrode, and forming a non-uniform interface may cause a problem of low ion conductivity. .
The problem to be solved by the present invention is that a multi-component oxide solid electrolyte powder having a high chemical stability and a spherical shape and an ultrafine particle size can be manufactured in large quantities, and the sintering temperature and time during sintering can be reduced, resulting in lithium volatilization. Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a spherical solid electrolyte powder capable of preventing composition destruction and suppressing the formation of voids due to secondary phase formation because secondary phase formation is inhibited.

According to the present invention, it is possible to reduce the sintering temperature and time during sintering compared to the conventional commercial manufacturing method of the melt-quenching method, thereby preventing composition destruction due to lithium volatilization and suppressing secondary phase formation. The problem of void formation due to the formation of the secondary phase can be suppressed, so that the solid electrolyte sintered through the spherical multi-component oxide solid electrolyte powder can secure high lithium ion conductivity.
Hereinafter, a method of manufacturing a spherical solid electrolyte powder according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in more detail.
The lithium-based glass ceramic solid electrolyte powder is manufactured by pulverizing glass flakes obtained by melting components at a high temperature using a crucible and rapidly cooling them to a low temperature through a wet or dry grinding method. The lithium-based glass ceramic spherical electrolyte powder synthesized through such a melting-quenching method has an irregular shape and has many difficulties in crushing to a size of 1 µm or less. Therefore, in order to manufacture an all-solid-state battery using a lithium-based glass ceramic concrete electrolyte powder prepared through a melt-quench method, sintering is required at a high temperature of 1000°C or higher after molding, and lithium ion volatilization and secondary phase occurring during the sintering process It has a problem that it is difficult to control the formation. In addition, in the pulverization process for controlling the particle size, long-time pulverization is required to produce particles of 1 µm or less, and foreign materials are introduced during the pulverization process, or components of the lithium-based glass ceramic specific electrolyte powder are eluted to form a lithium-based glass. The composition of the ceramic spherical electrolyte powder changes, and finally, the problem of lowering lithium ion conductivity is caused.
Therefore, as a process for manufacturing lithium-based glass ceramic powder for an all-solid-state battery, the process is simplified by controlling the particle size through a simple process to synthesize spherical particles to simplify the process and shorten the sintering temperature and time to secondary phase during sintering. There is a need for a technique capable of suppressing formation and improving density and ionic conductivity.

The precursor solution is introduced into a spraying device to generate droplets. The spraying device may include an ultrasonic spraying device, an air nozzle spraying device, an ultrasonic nozzle spraying device, a filter expansion aerosol generator (FEAG) or a disk type droplet generating device. The size of the droplets greatly influences the size of the solid electrolyte powder produced. Therefore, the size of the droplets is preferably controlled to 0.1 to 100 µm.
The droplets are sprayed into a preheated pyrolysis reactor. The droplets produced through the spraying device can be transferred to a pyrolysis reactor using a carrier gas. The carrier gas is preferably one or more gases selected from the group consisting of argon (Ar), oxygen, air and nitrogen depending on the reaction system.
In the pyrolysis reactor, the droplets are pyrolized and melted. The temperature and reaction time in the pyrolysis reactor can be controlled through the flow rate of the carrier gas. The residence time in the pyrolysis reactor (in the reaction section) is preferably controlled to 1 to 60 seconds depending on the size of the droplets and the reaction rate of the reactants. In consideration of this, the flow rate of the carrier gas depends on the size and temperature of the pyrolysis reactor. It is preferable to control at 0.1-100 l/min. If the carrier gas flow rate is too low, the process yield may be lowered due to the inadequate transport of droplets. If the carrier gas flow rate is too high, the residence time in the pyrolysis reactor (in the reaction section) may be lowered, resulting in a problem of poor phase formation. have.

The temperature in the pyrolysis reactor is preferably about 200 to 1800°C. At low reaction temperatures, amorphous particles may be produced, and at high temperatures, crystallinity of the produced particles may increase.
The pyrolysis reactor preferably has a reaction section of 50 to 200 cm (a section in which the droplets are thermally decomposed and melted). The pyrolysis reactor is preferably made of glass or alumina material depending on the use environment.
In this high-temperature pyrolysis reactor, the residence time is short, but by heating, the organic or polymers contained in the droplets are decomposed and only components of the desired composition remain. The droplets sprayed into the pyrolysis reactor dry and decompose almost simultaneously, and the precursor material melts, and the precursor in the liquid state has a spherical shape to lower the degree of freedom, and additional powder is formed because one powder is formed from one droplet. And a fine size solid electrolyte powder is synthesized without the need for a classification process.

The spherical solid electrolyte powder produced by the present invention may have a crystalline or amorphous structure.
For the spherical solid electrolyte powder produced by the present invention, a process of increasing crystallinity through heat treatment may be added. The heat treatment is preferably carried out at a temperature of about 500 ~ 900 ℃.
The spherical solid electrolyte powder produced by the present invention can be molded and sintered to be used in a lithium ion secondary battery. The sintering is preferably performed in an air or oxygen atmosphere at a temperature of about 600 to 1200°C.
The solid electrolyte powder prepared according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention shows a uniform particle size distribution and maintains a perfect spherical shape. In the conventional melt-cooling process, it has a form of particles that cannot be obtained, and the solid electrolyte sintered body produced through this can realize high ionic conductivity through high density even under low sintering conditions.
According to the present invention, a smaller number of unit processes are required than the conventional commercialized melt-cooling process, and there is no need for a grinding process that brings defects to the properties of the solid electrolyte powder.
Crystallization, crushing, and drying processes, which were essential in manufacturing through the existing melt-quenching method, can be omitted, and the manufacturing process can be unified and process time and cost can be saved. In addition, it is possible to reduce the internal voids during molding and sintering and lower the sintering time and temperature, thereby suppressing the formation of secondary phases and changes in composition due to lithium volatilization during the sintering process, thereby producing a sintered body with high ion conductivity.
According to the present invention, a spherical multi-component oxide solid electrolyte powder is synthesized in a single process using a gas phase process-based spray pyrolysis process to shorten the synthesis time, increase the process yield, and lower the process cost through a simple process. have.

The composition of the NASICON-like glass ceramic solid electrolyte powder to be prepared in this example is Li 1.45 Al 0.45 M 1.55 (PO 4 ) 3 , where M is Ti.
The concentration of the precursor solution was 0.5M.
The precursor solution was charged to the droplet generator. The droplet generator used an industrial humidifier operating at a frequency of 1.7 MHz. Air was used as a carrier gas to smoothly transport the large amount of droplets generated by the six ultrasonic oscillators into the pyrolysis reactor, and the flow rate of the carrier gas was about 20 l/min.

The powder generated by passing through the pyrolysis reactor was collected in a collector to obtain a spherical NASICON-like glass ceramic solid electrolyte powder.
2 and 3, the NASICON-like glass ceramic solid electrolyte powder prepared through a melt-cooling process had a needle or bulk shape with a large particle size, and a solid electrolyte prepared according to Example 1 The powder had a spherical shape of 200 nm to 1.5 µm, and it was confirmed that the particle size was uniform.
<실시예 2> 구형 NASICON-like계 글라스 세라믹 고체전해질 분말을 이용하여 고체전해질 소결체 제조<Example 2> Preparation of solid electrolyte sintered body using spherical NASICON-like glass ceramic solid electrolyte powder
Referring to FIG. 4, a sintered body having a high density characteristic of 95% or more with few internal voids was obtained.
5 is a view showing an X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of a solid electrolyte sintered body prepared according to Example 2.
Referring to FIG. 5, XRD analysis of the solid electrolyte sintered body prepared by sintering at 800° C. for 10 hours had a single phase without a secondary phase.
Figure 6 shows the AC impedance (impedance) of the solid electrolyte sintered body prepared according to Example 2, Figure 7 is a view showing by evaluating the ion conductivity through the AC impedance (impedance).
Referring to FIGS. 6 and 7, as a result of evaluating ion conductivity through AC impedance, a high lithium ion conductivity of 2.35 × 10 -4 S/cm at room temperature was obtained despite a low sintering temperature. In addition, as the sintering time decreased from 10 hours to 1 hour, the ionic conductivity tended to increase from 2.35 × 10 -4 S/cm to 6.81 × 10 -4 S/cm.
In general, NASICON-like glass ceramic solid electrolyte powder manufactured through a melt-cooling process has a large particle size and a needle or bulk shape as a limitation of the manufacturing process, thereby achieving high lithium ion conductivity through the production of a high density sintered body. In order to obtain, sintering must be performed at a high temperature for a long time. However, in a long-time sintering condition at a high temperature, lithium is easily volatilized, so that a stoichiometric ratio may be distorted or a secondary phase may be formed. On the other hand, the spherical NASICON-like glass ceramic solid electrolyte powder prepared according to Example 1 has a spherical shape with small particle size and highest surface energy, thereby minimizing volatilization of lithium even under sintering conditions at 800°C for 2 hours. It was confirmed that high ionic conductivity can be realized.

8 is a scanning electron microscope (SEM) photograph of the surface and cross-section of a sintered body prepared by sintering a commercial NASICON-like glass ceramic solid electrolyte powder at 800° C. for 10 hours.
