Abstract

Description
본 출원은 2012년 4월 5일 출원된 미국 가출원 제 61/620735호에 대한 우선권을 주장하며, 본 명세서에서 그 전문이 인용참조된다.
본 발명은 수성 집합체(aqueous assembly)들에 관한 것이다.
수성 집합체에서는, 용기(vessel)가 수용액 내에 용해된 핵분열성 물질을 포함한다. 핵분열성 물질이 용액에 용해되어 있기 때문에, 이 집합체들은 용액의 팽창에 의해 야기되는 반응도의 큰 부 온도 계수(negative temperature coefficient) 및 보이드 계수(void coefficient)를 갖는 경향이 있다. 수성 집합체가 의료용 동위원소(medical isotopes)의 생산에 사용되는 경우, 예를 들어 비교적 높은 출력 레벨(power levels)에서, 및 미임계(subcritical)라면 비교적 높은 중성자 증배율로 수성 집합체를 작동시키는 것이 바람직하다. 하지만, 반응도의 큰 부 온도 계수 및 보이드 계수가 바람직하지 않은 반응도 손실 및/또는 출력 진동(power oscillation)들을 야기할 수 있으며, 이로 인해 수성 집합체의 작동 파라미터들이 제한된다.

몇몇 실시예들에서, 일정 크기로(with a magnitude) 부 반응도 계수(negative coefficient of reactivity)를 갖는 수성 집합체가 제공된다. 수성 집합체는 용기, 및 용기 내에 유지되는 핵분열성 용질을 갖는 수용액을 포함한다. 반응도 안정제(reactivity stabilizer)가 수용액 내에 첨가(dispose)되어, 수성 집합체의 부 반응도 계수의 크기를 감소시킨다.
다른 실시예들에서, 일정 크기로 반응도 계수를 갖는 수성 집합체를 작동시키는 방법들이 제공된다. 용기가 제공된다. 핵분열성 용질을 포함한 수용액이 용기에 추가된다. 반응도 안정제가 수용액에 추가되어, 반응도 계수의 크기를 감소시킨다. 수용액 내에서 분열 반응이 지속된다.

본 명세서에 제시된 디바이스들 및 방법들은, 예를 들어 임계 및 미임계 수성 집합체들을 둘 다 포함하는 다양한 형태 및 구성의 수성 집합체들과 사용될 수 있다.
도 1을 참조하면, 미임계 복합체(10)가 중성자 소스 집합체(14) 및 수성 집합체, 더 구체적으로는 수성 타겟 집합체(aqueous target assembly: 18)를 포함한다.
중성자 소스 집합체(14)는 RF-구동 플라즈마 이온 소스(22)를 포함한다. 상기 이온 소스(22)는 트리튬(T) 및 듀테륨(D) 혼합물과 같은 피드 가스(feed gas)를 수용한다. 상기 이온 소스(22)는 사전설정된 경로(26)를 따라 지향되는 D+ 및 T+ 이온들을 포함한 이온 빔을 발생시키고 시준(collimate)한다.
가속기(30)가 D+ 및 T+ 이온 빔을 수용하고, 상기 이온 빔을 가속하여 가속된 D+ 및 T+ 이온 빔을 산출한다. 가속기(30)는 D+ 및 T+ 이온 빔을 가속시키는 일련의 가속 전극들, 또는 정전기 플레이트(electrostatic plate)들을 포함할 수 있다.
중성자 소스 집합체(14)의 가속기 타겟부(accelerator target portion: 34)가 가속된 이온 빔을 수용한다. 가속기 타겟부(34)는 가스 타겟 챔버(38), 및 예시된 실시예에서 차동 펌핑 시스템(differential pumping system: 42)을 포함한다. 가스 타겟 챔버(38)는 가속된 빔과 반응하여, 이후 핵 입자들, 즉 양성자들 또는 중성자들을 방출하는 핵 입자-유도 타겟 가스(nuclear particle-deriving target gas)를 포함하고 있다. 일 구성에서, 타겟 가스 챔버(38)는 거의 동일한 양의 D 및 T 가스의 혼합으로 충전된다.
가스 타겟 챔버(38)로부터 차동 펌핑 구간(42)으로 누출되는 가스들은 고속 펌프들을 통과하고, 콜드 트랩(cold trap)을 통과하여 다시 타겟 챔버로 돌아간다. 콜드 트랩들은 매우 작은 누출로 인해 결국에는 시스템을 오염시킬 수 있는 중질 가스(heavier gas)들을 제거한다.
D 및 T의 혼합된 타겟 가스를 타격(strike)하는 가속된 D+ 및 T+ 이온 빔은 D-T 및 T-D 반응들을 생성하여, 중성자들의 방출을 유도한다.
본 발명의 몇몇 구성들에서, 중성자 증배기(neutron multiplier: 46)가 가스 타겟 챔버를 실질적으로 둘러싼다. 중성자 증배기(46)는 실질적으로 베릴륨 또는 우라늄으로 형성될 수 있다. 가스 타겟 챔버로부터의 활동적인 중성자(energetic neutron)들이 베릴륨 원자들을 (n,2n) 반응들을 통한 추가 중성자 및 2 개의 헬륨 핵으로 분할하는 경우에, 또는 중성자들이 우라늄과 (n,2n),(n,3n), 또는 (n,f) 반응들을 겪는 경우에 증배가 일어난다. 예를 들어, 14.1 MeV 중성자는 증배 임계치(multiplication threshold) 아래로 떨어지기 전에 이 방식으로 여러 번(a few times) 반응하기에 충분한 에너지를 갖는다.
수성 타겟 집합체(18)는 타겟 용액 용기(TSV)(50)를 포함하고, 차폐 탱크(shield tank: 54)로 둘러싸인다. TSV(50)는 내벽(58) 및 외벽(62)을 포함하고, 내벽(58)과 외벽(62) 사이에 환형 타겟 용액 공간(annular target solution volume: 66)이 정의된다. TSV(50)는, 예를 들어 지르칼로이, 스테인리스 강, 또는 알루미늄으로 형성될 수 있다. TSV(50)는 가스 타겟 챔버(38) 및 중성자 증배기(46) -적용가능한 경우- 를 실질적으로 둘러싼다.

미임계도(subcriticality)가 유지될 것을 실질적으로 보장하면서 미임계 복합체를 이용한 의료용 동위원소들의 생산을 실질적으로 최대화하기 위해, 중성자 컴퓨터 코드(neutronics computer code)들을 이용하여 주어진 우라늄 농도 및 농축에 대해 시스템의 유효 중성자 증배율(keff)이 계산된다. 이 분석을 위해 이용될 수 있는 중성자 코드들은 MCNP5, HELIOS, VARIANT, PN2ND, PHOENIX/ANC, KENO, DENOVO 및 기타 등등을 포함하였다. 그 후, 바람직한 우라늄 농도들 및 농축들이 바람직한 keff에 대해 계산될 수 있다.
keff는 임계상태(criticality)에 대한 시스템의 근접(proximity)의 척도이며, 이때:
keff < 1.0은 미임계이고,
keff = 1.0은 임계이며,
keff > 1.0은 초임계(supercritical)이다.
미임계도가 유지될 것을 실질적으로 보장하면서 의료용 동위원소들의 생산을 실질적으로 최대화하기 위해서는, 보다 높은 keff 값들이 증가된 미임계 증배로 인해 시스템의 효율성을 증가시키기 때문에, 1.0에 가까운 수성 타겟 집합체(18)의 keff(예를 들어, 0.9500 내지 0.9995)로 미임계 복합체(10)를 작동시키는 것이 바람직하다. 상기 복합체(10)는 적어도 약 0.7000, 적어도 약 0.7500, 적어도 약 0.8000, 적어도 약 0.8500, 적어도 약 0.9000, 또는 적어도 약 0.9500의 keff로 작동될 수 있다. 상기 복합체(10)는 약 0.9995 미만, 약 0.9990 미만, 약 0.9980 미만, 약 0.9970 미만, 약 0.9960 미만, 약 0.9950 미만, 또는 약 0.9900 미만의 keff로 작동될 수 있다. 상기 복합체(10)는 0.7000 내지 0.9995, 0.7500 내지 0.9995, 0.8000 내지 0.9995, 0.9000 내지 0.9995, 0.9500 내지 0.9995, 또는 0.9900 내지 0.9995의 keff로 작동될 수 있다.
도 4는 수성 원자로(70)의 단면도이다. 수성 원자로(70)는 차폐 탱크(78) 내에 배치된 수성 집합체(74)(예를 들어, 임계상태의 능력이 있는 수성 집합체)를 포함한다. 수성 집합체(74)는 수용액(86)의 부피를 지지하는 원자로 용기(82)를 포함한다. 수용액(86)은 핵분열성 용질을 포함한다. 핵분열성 용질은 저농축 우라늄(LEU), 천연 우라늄, 또는 다른 핵분열성 물질의 형태로 U-235를 포함할 수 있다. 우라늄은 용해도를 증가시키도록 염(예를 들어, 우라닐 니트레이트, 우라닐 술페이트, 또는 우라닐 플루오라이드)으로 전환될 수 있으며, 용해도를 더 증가시키도록 pH가 조정될 수 있다. 수용액(86)은 적어도 임계 질량(critical mass)의 핵분열성 용질을 포함한다. 핵분열성 용질의 임계 질량은 그 핵특성(예를 들어, 분열 단면적), 상기 용액 내에서의 핵분열성 용질의 농축 및 농도, 용액의 밀도, 원자로 용기 내에서의 용액의 형상, 용액 온도, 주위의 중성자 반사율, 및 다른 인자들에 의존한다.
수성 집합체(74) 내에 제어봉(control rod: 90)이 선택적으로 위치가능하다. 제어봉(90)은 큰 중성자 포획 단면적을 갖는 재료를 포함한다. 이 재료는 은, 인듐, 및 카드뮴을 포함할 수 있다. 이용될 수 있는 다른 요소들로는, 예를 들어 붕소, 코발트, 하프늄, 디스프로슘, 가돌리늄, 사마륨, 에르븀, 및 유로퓸, 또는 이들의 합금 및 화합물, 예를 들어 고-붕소 강(high-boron steel), 은-인듐-카드뮴 합금, 보론 카바이드, 지르코늄 디보라이드, 티타늄 디보라이드, 하프늄 디보라이드, 가돌리늄 티타네이트, 및 디스프로슘 티타네이트를 포함한다.
제어봉(90)은 제어봉 구동 메카니즘(CRDM: 94)에 의해 수성 집합체(74) 내에 위치된다. 원자로 용기(82)의 수용액(86) 내에 깊이 제어봉(90)을 삽입하는 것이 수성 집합체(74)의 반응도를 감소시켜, 수성 집합체(74)가 의도치 않게 임계가 되는 것을 방지한다(즉, 제어봉이 keff < 1.0을 유지함). 제어봉(90)이 CRDM(94)에 의해 용액으로부터 제어가능하게 인출됨에 따라, 보다 적은 중성자들이 포획되고 수성 집합체(74) 내의 반응도는 keff = 1.0일 때까지[즉, 수성 집합체(74)가 임계일 때까지] 증가한다. 제어봉(90)의 계속된 인출이 계속해서 정 반응도(positive reactivity)를 삽입할 것이다. 제어봉(90)이 신속하게 인출되고, 수성 집합체(74)로 충분한 정 반응도가 삽입되는 경우, 수성 집합체(74)는 즉발 임계(prompt critical): 즉발 중성자만을 이용하여 분열이 지속될 수 있는 지점에 도달할 수 있다. 하지만, 이 제어봉 정 반응도(positive rod reactivity)는 방사선분해로 인한 용액 내의 보이드 형성 및 용액의 워밍(warming), 또는 보일링(boiling)을 포함한 부 반응도를 유도하는 다른 효과들에 의해 상쇄될 수 있다.
핵분열성 원자들(예를 들어, 우라늄-235)은 수성 집합체[예를 들어, 미임계 수성 타겟 집합체(18) 또는 수성 집합체(74)] 내의 용액 내에 있기 때문에, 온도가 증가하여 용액이 팽창함에 따라 우라늄의 질량 농도가 감소한다. 이 팽창은 TSV(50)(도 1) 또는 원자로 용기(82)(도 4)의 중성자에 있어 더 중요한(more neutronically important) "높은-가치(high-worth)"의 중심 구역으로부터 우라늄을 변위시키고, "낮은-가치" 구역인 용액의 자유 표면으로 우라늄을 이동시킨다.
열팽창 효과는 용액의 온도가 증가함에 따라 평균 중성자 에너지의 증가에 의해 심해진다. 열중성자 온도의 증가는 일어날 수 있는 다른 경우들[예를 들어, 시스템으로부터의 이탈, 낮은 공명(low-lying resonances)에서의 포획 등]에 비해 우라늄-235의 분열을 야기할 가능성을 감소시킨다. 이 효과는 반응도의 심한 부 온도 계수를 유도할 수 있다. 반응도의 온도 계수(αT)는 온도의 단위 증가당 시스템의 반응도 변화의 척도이다. αT는 수용액의 온도 변화에 대한 keff의 변화를 예측한다. 수성 원자로(70) 또는 미임계 복합체(10)의 실시예들의 αT는 약 100 ℉에서 대략 -10 pcm/℉인 것으로 추산(estimate)된다. αT의 값들은 중성자 컴퓨터 코드로 계산될 수 있다. αT의 값은 적어도 약 -100, 적어도 약 -90, 적어도 약 -80, 적어도 약 -70, 적어도 약 -60, 또는 적어도 약 -50일 수 있다. αT의 값은 약 -1 미만, 약 -2 미만, 약 -3 미만, 약 -4 미만, 약 -5 미만, 약 -6 미만, 약 -7 미만, 약 -8 미만, 약 -9 미만, 또는 약 -10 미만일 수 있다. αT의 값은 -100 내지 -1, -90 내지 -2, -80 내지 -3, -70 내지 -4, 또는 -60 내지 -5일 수 있다.
또한, 부 αT 이외에도, 미임계 수성 타겟 집합체(18)(도 1) 또는 수성 집합체(74)(도 4)와 같은 수성 집합체들은 심한 부 보이드 계수(αvoid)를 갖는다. αvoid는 가스 또는 보이드의 단위 증가당 시스템의 반응도 변화의 척도이다. 수성 시스템들은 열팽창에 대해 설명된 것과 유사한 효과로 인해 부 보이드 계수를 갖는다(보이드가 용액에 추가됨에 따라, 이는 높은-가치의 중심 구역으로부터 용액 표면의 낮은-가치 구역으로 우라늄을 변위시킨다). αvoid의 값들은 중성자 컴퓨터 코드로 계산될 수 있다. αvoid의 값은 적어도 약 -500 pcm/(% void), 적어도 약 -450, 적어도 약 -400, 적어도 약 -350, 적어도 약 -300, 적어도 약 -250, 적어도 약 -200, 적어도 약 -150, 또는 적어도 약 -100일 수 있다. αvoid의 값은 약 -10 미만, 약 -20 미만, 약 -30 미만, 약 -40 미만, 또는 약 -50 미만일 수 있다. αvoid의 값은 -500 내지 -10, -450 내지 -20, -400 내지 -30, -350 내지 -40, 또는 -300 내지 -50 pcm/(% void)일 수 있다.
큰 부 αT 및 αvoid는 수성 시스템들에 관하여 2 개의 잠재적 문제: 즉, 반응도 진동 및 감소된 아웃풋(output)을 야기할 수 있다. 반응도 진동은 시스템 상에 유도된 여하한의 트랜션트(transient)들(예를 들어, 출력 변화, 또는 압력 변화)의 결과로서, 또는 고유 진동들(예를 들어, 난류)로 인해 발생할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 온도가 증가하는 경우, 반응도 피드백 메카니즘은 출력을 떨어뜨리게 할 것이고, 이는 온도 감소 및 후속한 출력 증가를 초래할 것이다. 사이클은 이것이 제어 시스템들에 의해 외부적으로 댐핑(damp)될 때까지 또는 자연적으로 감쇠(decay)할 때까지 계속될 것이다.
두번째 잠재적 문제는 감소된 아웃풋이다. 미임계 수성 타겟 집합체(18)에 대해, 심한 부 온도 및 보이드 계수들이 보다 낮은 keff 값들을 유도하여 시스템의 미임계 증배를 감소시키기 때문에 아웃풋이 감소될 수 있다. 심한 부 αT 및 αvoid는 시스템의 작동 출력 레벨의 감소를 유도하여, 출력 진동을 설명하도록 설계에 있어서 충분한 안전 여유(safety margin)가 존재할 것을 보장할 수 있다.
αT 및 αvoid의 크기를 감소시킴으로써, 이 두 문제의 영향을 감소시킬 수 있다.
소정 동위원소들은 중성자들에 대한 매우 큰 포획 단면적을 갖는 한편, 온도 증가에 따라 밀도 및/또는 흡광도가 감소하며, 이 동위원소들은 반응도 안정제라고 칭해질 수 있다. 반응도 안정제들은 핵 시스템으로부터 중성자들을 흡수하여, 중성자들이 핵분열을 야기하는 것을 방지한다. 반응도 안정제들의 몇몇 예시들로는 붕소-10, 가돌리늄-155, 및 가돌리늄-157을 포함하며, 이에 제한되지 않는다. 붕소-10은 붕산의 형태(즉, H3BO3 또는 B(OH)3)로 수용액에 추가될 수 있다. 붕산은 높은 용해도 및 낮은 pH로 인해 특히 바람직할 수 있다. 가용성 붕산을 이용하는 것 이외에도, 붕소의 다른 물리적 배치(physical placement)들이 사용될 수 있다. 이러한 디바이스들은 붕소를 함유하는 고정된 플레이트들 또는 봉들을 포함한다. 상업적 붕소-알루미늄 합금들이 이들의 화학적 및 방사선 안정도로 인해 사용될 수 있다. 또 다른 선택사항은 농축 붕산으로 채워진 별도의 관들에서 붕소를 배치하는 것이다.
TSV(50)(도 1) 또는 원자로 용기(82)(도 4) 내의 수용액에 이 반응도 안정제들을 추가함으로써, 반응도 안정제가 중성자들을 두고 우라늄과 경쟁하기 때문에 용액 내 우라늄의 상대적 중요성이 감소될 수 있다. 이러한 것으로서, 용액 온도가 증가되는(또는 증가하는) 경우, 용액 팽창은 높은-가치의 중심 구역으로부터 우라늄의 일부를 제거할 뿐 아니라, 반응도 안정제의 일부도 제거한다. 순수 효과(net effect)는 심한 부 αT의 크기가 감소된다는 것이다.
유사한 반응이 αvoid로 달성된다. 용액 보이드의 증가는 우라늄뿐만 아니라 반응도 안정제를 변위시킨다. 그러므로, 우라늄 손실 및 반응도 안정제 손실의 경쟁 효과들로 인해 용액 내 추가 기포의 반응도 영향이 감소된다.
반응도 안정제들의 농도를 조정함으로써, 여하한의 원하는 레벨들로 반응도 피드백 계수들(αT 및 αvoid)을 형성할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 반응도 안정제 농도는 αT 및 αvoid의 크기를 줄이는 한편, 이들이 여전히 음의 상태를 유지하도록 선택될 수 있다. 부 계수들은 시스템 출력의 증가가 반응도의 감소를 초래할 것을 보장하게 한다(자기제어 디바이스); 하지만, 너무 음인 계수들은 앞서 설명된 출력 진동들을 초래한다. 도 3은 수 개의 선택된 붕소 농도들에서 미임계 수성 타겟 집합체의 반응도의 온도 계수(αT)를 예시하며, 이는 붕소 농도가 증가함에 따라 감소되는 크기의 온도 계수를 나타낸다.
결국, 감소된 반응도 계수들이 감소된 반응도 진동들로 인해 미임계 복합체 집합체(10)를 작동시킬 때 증가된 안정도(αT 및 αvoid)를 제공한다. 또한, 이 증가된 안정도는 의료용 동위원소들의 증가된 생산율을 허용한다. 반응도 진동들이 최소화되기 때문에, 미임계 복합체 집합체는 더 높은 유효 중성자 증배율(keff)로 작동될 수 있다. 도 2는 타겟 용액 내의 붕소 농도에 대한 미임계 집합체의 정규화된 생산율의 그래프이며, 이는 붕소 농도가 증가함에 따라 생산성의 증가를 나타낸다.
도 5는 미임계 수성 집합체의 keff 작동 대역들을 예시한다. 반응도 안정제를 사용하지 않는 미임계 수성 집합체에 대해, keff 작동 대역은 큰 αT 및 αvoid의 결과로서 온도 및 보이드 반응도에서의 진동들로 인해 폭이 넓다. 임계상태의 가능성을 감소시키기 위해, 안정화되지 않은 작동 대역의 전형적인 작동 keff 값은 바람직하지 않게 keff = 1.0으로부터 멀리 떨어져 있으며, 이는 감소된 미임계 증배로 인해 미임계 수성 집합체의 작동 효율성을 감소시킨다. 비교하여, 반응도 안정제를 포함한 수성 집합체는 αT 및 αvoid의 크기를 감소시킨 결과로서 온도 및 보이드 반응도에서의 감소된 진동들로 인해 더 좁은 keff 작동 대역을 갖는다. 또한, 안정화된 작동 대역의 전형적인 작동 keff 값은 keff = 1.0에 더 가까운 한편, 여전히 작동 대역에서 임계상태로부터의 동일한 여유를 유지하여, 미임계 증배를 증가시킴으로써 미임계 수성 집합체의 작동 효율성을 증가시킨다.
도 6은 임계 수성 집합체의 keff 작동 대역들을 예시한다. 반응도 안정제를 사용하지 않는 임계 수성 집합체에 대해, keff 작동 대역은 큰 αT 및 αvoid의 결과로서 온도 및 보이드 반응도에서의 진동들로 인해 폭이 넓다. 임계적으로 작동하는 경우, 작동 대역의 상한은 바람직하지 않게 즉발 임계에 가깝다. 비교하여, 반응도 안정제를 포함한 임계 수성 집합체는 αT 및 αvoid의 크기를 감소시킨 결과로서 온도 및 보이드 반응도에서의 감소된 진동들로 인해 더 좁은 keff 작동 대역을 갖는다. 또한, 즉발 임계에 대한 여유가 더 커서, 임계 수성 집합체의 안전 여유를 증가시킨다.
제 1 예시: 중성자 소스 집합체, 중성자 증배기, 및 수성 집합체를 포함한 미임계 복합체가 제공된다. TSV 내에 수용액이 제공된다. 수용액은 LEU를 포함한 핵분열성 용질을 포함한다.
붕소 또는 다른 반응도 안정제들의 바람직한 농도가 중성자 컴퓨터 코드를 이용하여 계산될 수 있다. 조작자는 keff, αT, 및 αvoid의 바람직한 값들을 선택한 후, 붕소 농도를 계산할 수 있다. 중성자 코드로의 다른 입력 값들은 복합체 집합체의 작동 조건들, 예를 들어 TSV, 차폐 탱크 및 중성자 증배기의 지오메트리들, 및 부피들, 용액의 화학적 성질, 모든 재료들의 밀도들, 소스 입자 에너지들, 핵 단면적 데이터, 및 모든 재료들의 온도들을 포함한다.
일단 바람직한 붕소 농도가 계산되면, 붕소 또는 붕산 첨가제가 준비되고 수용액에 추가된다.
바람직한 가용성 반응도 안정제 농도에 대해 αT 및 αvoid가 계산된다. 제 1 keff 값(keff1)이 베이스 케이스(base case)를 이용하여 고도의 정확성으로 결정된다. 그 후, 관심 변수(예를 들어, 용액 온도)에서 작은 섭동(perturbation)이 이루어지고, 새로운 keff 값(keff2)이 계산된다. 선택적으로, 그 후 제 2 섭동이 베이스 케이스로부터 반대 방향으로 이루어지고, 제 3 keff 값이 계산된다.
반응도 계수(αT 또는 αvoid)는 그 후 (keff1 - keff2)/(keff1 * keff2)/ΔZ로부터 계산되며, 이때 ΔZ는 관심 변수에서의 섭동이다. 두 섭동들은 계산된 반응도 계수(αT 또는 αvoid)를 확인하는 데 사용되어, 반응도 계수의 기울기를 결정하고 평균을 통해 더 우수한 통계를 제공한다.

붕소 또는 다른 반응도 안정제들의 바람직한 농도가 중성자 컴퓨터 코드를 이용하여 계산될 수 있다. 조작자는 αT 및 αvoid의 바람직한 값들을 선택한 후, 붕소 농도를 계산할 수 있다. 중성자 코드로의 다른 입력 값들은 수성 원자로의 작동 조건들, 예를 들어 원자로 용기 및 차폐 탱크의 지오메트리들, 및 부피들, 용액의 화학적 성질, 모든 재료들의 밀도들, 소스 입자 에너지들, 핵 단면적 데이터, 및 모든 재료들의 온도들을 포함한다.
일단 바람직한 붕소 농도가 계산되면, 붕소 또는 붕산 첨가제가 준비되고 수용액에 추가된다.
바람직한 가용성 반응도 안정제 농도에 대해 αT 및 αvoid가 계산된다. 두 섭동들은 계산된 반응도 계수(αT 또는 αvoid)를 확인하는 데 사용되어, 반응도 계수의 기울기를 결정하고 평균을 통해 더 우수한 통계를 제공한다.

Claims (20)
- 부 반응도 계수(negative coefficient of reactivity)를 갖는 미임계(subcritical) 수성 집합체(aqueous assembly)에 있어서:
용기(vessel);
상기 용기 내에 유지되는 핵분열성 용질을 포함하는 수용액;
상기 용기 내에서 미임계 레벨에서 상기 핵분열성 용질과 핵분열 반응(fission reaction)을 유지하는 중성자 소스; 및
상기 미임계 수성 집합체의 작동 동안에 상기 미임계 수성 집합체의 부 반응도 계수의 크기(magnitude)를 감소시키기 위해, 상기 수용액 내에 첨가(dispose)되는 반응도 안정제(reactivity stabilizer)
를 포함하는 미임계 수성 집합체. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 반응도 계수는 반응도의 용액 온도 계수인 미임계 수성 집합체. - 제 1 항에 있어서,

상기 수용액 내에서 상기 핵분열성 용질과 핵분열 반응을 지속하도록 상기 중성자 소스를 작동시키는 단계
