Claims (8)
- 액정표시장치의 서로 대향하는 측들로부터 관찰자에 의해 관찰될 수 있는 정보를 상기 측들 중 하나로부터만 입사되는 입사광을 이용하여 표시하는, 액정표시장치로서,2개의 서로 대향하는 기판과 상기 2개의 서로 대향하는 기판 사이에 설치된 액정층을 갖는 액정판넬로서, 상기 액정표시장치를 사용하는 동안 구동되어 그 선택된 영역을 통과하는 편광된 광의 편광방향을 변환하여 표시 정보를 생성하는 액정판넬과;상기 액정판넬의 제1측 상에 배치되어 그 위에 입사되는 입사광을 편광시키는 편광판(polarizer) 및;상기 제1측에 대향하는 상기 액정판넬의 제2측 상에 배치되어 상기 액정판넬로부터 나오는 편광된 입사광을 수신하는 단일 반사편광자로서, 특정방향으로 편광된 편광성분은 반사시키고, 잔여의 편광성분은 투과시키는 단일 반사편광자를 포함하고;편광방향이 변환되는 중에 상기 편광판에 의해 편광되어 상기 액정판넬을 통해 투과되는 입사광은 상기 반사편광자에 의해 상기 액정판넬과 상기 편광판을 역으로 통해 반사되어 관찰자로 하여금 상기 액정판넬의 제1측을 형성하는 표시 정보를 관찰할 수 있게 하며; 편광방향의 변환됨 없이 상기 편광판에 의해 편광되어 상기 액정판넬을 통해 투과되는 입사광은 상기 반사편광자를 통해 투과되어 관찰자로 하여금 상기 액정판넬의 제2측으로부터 상기 표시 정보를 관찰할 수 있게 하는 액정표시장치.
- 삭제
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 반사편광자의 반사축방향과 동일한 방향의 흡수축을 갖는 제2 편광판을 더 포함하며, 상기 반사편광자는 상기 액정판넬과 상기 제2 편광판 사이에 설치되는, 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 액정판넬과 상기 반사편광자의 사이에 설치되는 확산층을 더 구비하는, 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 액정판넬과 상기 반사편광자 사이에 설치되어 그 안에 입사하는 특정 각도범위 내의 광을 산란시키고 그 안에 입사하는 상기 특정 각도범위 외의 광을 투과시키는 지향성 확산층(directive diffusion layer)을 더 포함하는, 액정표시장치.
- 제5항에 있어서, 상기 지향성 확산층에 의해 산란된 광이 특정방향에서 지향성(directivity)을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 광으로 상기 액정판넬을 조사하는 프론트 라이트 유니트(front light unit)를 더 포함하고, 상기 편광판은 상기 프론트 라이트 유니트와 상기 액정판넬 사이에 설치되는, 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1측으로부터 관찰될 때의 부여된 표시를 생성하기 위해 상기 액정판넬에 제1 세트의 구동신호를 공급하고 상기 제2측으로부터 관찰될 때의 부여된 표시를 생성하기 위해 상기 구동신호를 변환하는 구동회로를 더 포함하는, 액정표시장치.
