Abstract
Description
遅延蛍光とは、準安定状態に一度エネルギーが保持され,その後放出されたエネルギーが光として放出される現象である。例えば、励起された後に一旦スピン多重度の異なる状態への遷移が起こり、そこから発光過程に入る現象が挙げられる。熱活性化遅延蛍光(TADF)現象の場合、励起された後に三重項励起子から一重項励起子への逆項間交差が生じ、一重項準位から発光が生じる。
本発明の実施の形態に係る発光素子は、陽極、陰極、およびそれら陽極と陰極との間に介在する有機層を有し、該有機層が電気エネルギーにより発光する。
本発明の実施の形態に係る発光素子では、少なくとも1つの発光層が、一般式(1)で表される化合物と一般式(2)で表される化合物とを含有する。特に限定されないが、一般式(1)で表される化合物をドーパントとして用い、一般式(2)で表される化合物をホスト材料として用いることが好ましい。
λ1(abs)は、一般式(1)で表される化合物の波長400nm以上900nm以下における吸収スペクトルのうち、最も長波長側のピークのピーク波長(nm)を表す。λ2(FL)は、一般式(2)で表される化合物の波長400nm以上900nm以下における蛍光スペクトルのうち、最も長波長側のピークのピーク波長(nm)を表す。
数式(i−2)を満たす場合、一般式(2)で表される化合物の蛍光スペクトルと、一般式(1)で表される化合物の吸収スペクトルとの重なりがさらに大きくなるので、一般式(2)で表される化合物から一般式(1)で表される化合物へのエネルギー移動が特に効率的に進行する。そのため、一般式(2)で表される化合物由来の発光が十分に抑制され、さらに効率的な励起エネルギーの利用と、より色純度高い発光の達成が可能である。
本発明の実施の形態に係る発光素子において、陽極および陰極は、素子の発光のために十分な電流を供給するための役割を有するものである。光を取り出すために、陽極および陰極の少なくとも一方は透明または半透明であることが好ましい。通常、基板上に形成される陽極を透明電極とする。
正孔輸送層は、正孔輸送材料の一種または二種以上を積層または混合する方法、もしくは、正孔輸送材料と高分子結着剤との混合物を用いる方法により形成される。また、正孔輸送材料は、正極からの正孔を効率良く輸送することが好ましい。そのため、正孔注入効率が高く、注入された正孔を効率良く輸送するものであることが好ましい。
本発明の実施の形態に係る発光素子において、陽極と正孔輸送層との間に正孔注入層を設けてもよい。正孔注入層を設けることで発光素子が低駆動電圧化し、耐久寿命も向上する。
本発明において、電子輸送層とは、陰極と発光層との間にある層である。電子輸送層は単層でも複数層であってもよく、陰極もしくは発光層に接していてもいいし、接していなくてもよい。
本発明の実施の形態に係る発光素子において、陰極と電子輸送層との間に電子注入層を設けてもよい。一般的に、電子注入層は、陰極から電子輸送層への電子の注入を助ける目的で挿入される。電子注入層には、電子受容性窒素を含むヘテロアリール環構造を有する化合物を用いてもよいし、上記のドナー性材料を含有する層を用いてもよい。
本発明の実施の形態に係る発光素子において、電荷発生層とは、上記のタンデム構造型素子における、陽極と陰極の間にある中間層であり、電荷分離により正孔および電子を発生させる層である。電荷発生層は、一般に、陰極側のP型層と陽極側のN型層から形成される。これらの層には、効率的な電荷分離と、生じたキャリアの効率的な輸送が望まれる。
化合物の吸収スペクトルは、U−3200形分光光度計(日立製作所株式会社製)を用い、化合物を2−メチルテトラヒドロフランに1×10−6mol/Lの濃度で溶解させて測定を行った。
化合物の蛍光スペクトルは、F−2500形分光蛍光光度計(日立製作所株式会社製)を用い、化合物を2−メチルテトラヒドロフランに1×10−6mol/Lの濃度で溶解させ、波長350nmで励起させた際の蛍光スペクトルを測定した。
Ag0.98Pd0.01Cu0.01合金100nmとITO透明導電膜10nmを堆積させたガラス基板(ジオマテック(株)製、11Ω/□、スパッタ品)を38×46mmに切断し、エッチングを行った。得られた基板を“セミコクリーン56”(商品名、フルウチ化学(株)製)で15分間超音波洗浄してから、超純水で洗浄した。この基板を、素子を作製する直前に1時間UV−オゾン処理し、真空蒸着装置内に設置して、装置内の真空度が5×10−4Pa以下になるまで排気した。抵抗加熱法によって、まず正孔注入層として、HAT−CN6を10nm、正孔輸送層として、HT−1を180nm蒸着した。次に、発光層として、ホスト材料H−1と、一般式(1)で表される化合物D−1と、一般式(2)で表される化合物B−1とを、重量比で80:1:20になるようにして、40nmの厚さに蒸着した。さらに電子輸送層として、電子輸送材料に化合物ET−1を、ドナー性材料として2E−1を用い、化合物ET−1と2E−1の蒸着速度比が1:1になるようにして35nmの厚さに積層した。次に、フッ化リチウムを0.5nm蒸着した後、マグネシウムと銀を15nm共蒸着して陰極とし、5×5mm角のトップエミッション素子を作製した。この発光素子は、発光ピーク波長625nm、半値幅46nmの高色純度発光を示した。また、この発光素子を、輝度1000cd/m2で発光させた時の外部量子効率は5.0%であった。結果を表2に示す。なお、HAT−CN6、HT−1、ET−1、2E−1は下記に示す化合物である。
発光層の材料として表2〜3に記載した化合物を用いた以外は実施例1と同様にして発光素子を作製し、評価した。結果を表2〜3に示す。なお、H−2〜H−10、D−6、D−7は下記に示す化合物である。
ITO透明導電膜を165nm堆積させたガラス基板(ジオマテック(株)製、11Ω/□、スパッタ品)を38×46mmに切断し、エッチングを行った。得られた基板を“セミコクリーン56”(商品名、フルウチ化学(株)製)で15分間超音波洗浄してから、超純水で洗浄した。この基板を素子を作製する直前に1時間UV−オゾン処理し、真空蒸着装置内に設置して、装置内の真空度が5×10−4Pa以下になるまで排気した。抵抗加熱法によって、まず正孔注入層として、HAT−CN6を10nm、正孔輸送層として、HT−1を180nm蒸着した。次に、発光層として、ホスト材料H−1と、一般式(1)で表される化合物D−3と、一般式(2)で表される化合物B−1とを、重量比で80:1:20になるようにして、40nmの厚さに蒸着した。さらに電子輸送層として、電子輸送材料に化合物ET−1を、ドナー性材料として2E−1を用い、化合物ET−1と2E−1の蒸着速度比が1:1になるようにして35nmの厚さに積層した。次に、フッ化リチウムを0.5nm蒸着した後、アルミニウムを1000nm蒸着して陰極とし、5×5mm角のボトムエミッション素子を作製した。この発光素子は、発光ピーク波長519nm、半値幅30nmの高色純度発光を示した。また、この発光素子を、輝度1000cd/m2で発光させた時の外部量子効率は4.4%であった。結果を表2に示す。
発光層の材料として表2に記載した化合物を用いた以外は実施例21と同様にして発光素子を作製し、評価した。結果を表2に示す。
電子輸送層の材料として表4に記載した化合物を用いた以外は実施例1と同様にして発光素子を作成し、評価した。結果を表4に示す。なおET−2〜ET−8は下記に示す化合物である。
正孔注入層形成後に、第1正孔輸送層としてHT−1を170nm蒸着し、その後、第2正孔輸送層として表5に記載した化合物を10nm蒸着し、合計厚み180nmの正孔輸送層を形成した以外は、実施例1と同様にして発光素子を作成し、評価した。結果を表5に示す。なおHT−2〜HT−6は下記に示す化合物である。
Claims (34)
- 陽極と陰極との間に発光層を含む複数の有機層を有し、電気エネルギーにより発光する発光素子であって、
前記発光層が、一般式(1)で表される化合物および遅延蛍光性の化合物を含む発光素子。
- 波長400nm以上900nm以下の範囲で単一ピークを示す蛍光を発する、請求項1または2に記載の発光素子。
- 前記単一ピークの半値幅が60nm以下である、請求項3に記載の発光素子。
- トップエミッション方式である、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 下記数式(i−1)を満たす、請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
|λ1(abs)−λ2(FL)|≦50 (i−1)
(λ1(abs)は、一般式(1)で表される化合物の波長400nm以上900nm以下における吸収スペクトルのうち、最も長波長側のピークのピーク波長(nm)を表す。λ2(FL)は、一般式(2)で表される化合物の波長400nm以上900nm以下における蛍光スペクトルのうち、最も長波長側のピークのピーク波長(nm)を表す。) - 前記発光層中、一般式(1)で表される化合物の含有量が5wt%以下であり、一般式(2)で表される化合物の含有量が70wt%以下である、請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- A1が下記一般式(3)または(4)から選ばれる、請求項2〜7のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(2)において、A1が一般式(3)で表される、請求項2〜8のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(2)において、A2が下記一般式(6)または(7)で表される、請求項2〜10のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(2)において、A2が一般式(6)で表される、請求項2〜11のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 前記発光層が、さらに、一般式(14)で表される化合物を含む、請求項1〜12のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(14)において、L4が、R56とR57のうち1つの位置、およびR60とR61のうち1つの位置と連結する、請求項13に記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(14)において、L4が単結合である、請求項13または14に記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(14)において、Ar6とAr7が異なる、請求項13〜15のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(14)において、Ar6およびAr7が、それぞれ同じでも異なっていてもよく、置換もしくは無置換の、フェニル基、ビフェニル基、ターフェニル基、ナフチル基、フルオレニル基、フェナントリル基、トリフェニレニル基から選ばれる、請求項13〜16のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(14)において、R64がアリール基である、請求項13〜18のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(14)において、R64が置換もしくは無置換の、フェニル基、ビフェニル基、ターフェニル基、ナフチル基、フルオレニル基、フェナントリル基、トリフェニレニル基である、請求項13〜19のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 発光層の陽極側に、スピロフルオレン骨格を有するモノアミン化合物を含む正孔輸送層を有する、請求項1〜20のいずれか記載の発光素子。
- 前記スピロフルオレン骨格を有するモノアミン化合物の窒素原子の置換基のうち、少なくとも一つが置換もしくは無置換のp−ビフェニル基、置換もしくは無置換のp−ターフェニル基、置換もしくは無置換の2−フルオレニル基、置換もしくは無置換のジベンゾフラ二ル基を含む基であることを特徴とする、請求項21に記載の発光素子。
- 前記一般式(15)において、Ar8〜Ar10のうち、少なくともひとつが、置換もしくは無置換の、フェニル基、ビフェニル基、ナフチル基、フルオレニル基である、請求項23に記載の発光素子。
- 発光層の陰極側にフェナントロリン骨格を有する化合物を含む電子輸送層を有する請求項1〜22のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 前記一般式(16)において、pが2である、請求項26に記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(1)において、XはC−R7であり、R7が置換もしくは無置換のフェニル基である、請求項1〜27のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(1)において、R1、R3、R4、R6が全て、それぞれ同じでも異なっていてもよく、置換もしくは無置換のフェニル基である、請求項1〜28のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 一般式(1)において、R1、R3、R4、R6が全て、それぞれ同じでも異なっていてもよく、置換もしくは無置換のアルキル基である、請求項1〜28のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- R1〜R7のうち少なくとも1つが電子求引基である、請求項1〜30のいずれかに記載の発光素子。
- 請求項1〜31のいずれかに記載の発光素子を含むディスプレイ。
- 請求項1〜31のいずれかに記載の発光素子を含む照明装置。
- 請求項1〜31のいずれかに記載の発光素子を含むセンサ。
