Description
The present invention relates to a spray dryer used for drying a solid solution or dispersion, a spray drying method using the spray dryer, and a polymer powder obtained by the spray drying method.
This application claims priority based on Japanese Patent Application No. 2006-102934 for which it applied on April 4, 2006, and uses the content here.
A method of obtaining dry particles from a solid solution or dispersion using a spray dryer is widely used in the food industry, pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry and the like. Spray dryers have been widely used as devices for obtaining dry particles of various materials such as organic materials and inorganic materials.
。The conventional spray dryer shown in FIG. 4 is mainly composed of a

In the spray dryer having such a configuration, most of the dry particles (powder) obtained by drying the solid solution or dispersion are recovered from the
FIG. 5 is an example of a spray dryer using a nozzle atomizer as a
In FIG. 5,
However, depending on the dryer, an upward flow of the drying gas is generated due to the disturbance of the flow of the drying gas in the dryer, and the accompanying dry particles adhere to the wall surface or the spray device. An example can be seen.
In addition, when the dry particles are entrained in the rising flow of the drying gas and come into contact with the high-temperature drying gas, the quality of the dried particles may be significantly reduced depending on the temperature. In foods and pharmaceuticals, when the dry particles are exposed to an unnecessarily high temperature, volatilization and alteration of necessary components occur. Alternatively, the dry particles are fused together to become coarse particles, which reduces the quality. When dispersibility is required as a function of the dry particles, the dispersibility is significantly reduced. Depending on the components of the dry particles, the oxidation reaction is promoted and coloring occurs. Furthermore, ignition may be reached.
In the method described in Non-Patent Document 1, when a large amount of powder adheres to the inner wall of the
When the powder adheres to the
In Patent Document 1, as shown in FIG. 5, a substantially cone-
As described in Patent Document 1, the opening angle of the cone part and the ratio (D IN / D) between the cone part inlet diameter (D IN ) and the dryer straight body part diameter (D) are within a specific range. By doing so, it is possible to reduce the occurrence of upward flow.
However, generally, the drying gas flowing in from the upper end of the cone portion tends to generate an upward flow in the process of spreading to the straight body portion of the dryer. Even in the method described in Patent Document 1, an upward flow is generated depending on the blowing speed of the drying gas and the amount of atomizing gas of the nozzle atomizer. For this reason, it is difficult to prevent the powder from adhering to the inner wall of the
An object of the present invention is to prevent the powder from adhering to the inner wall of the dryer and the spraying device, and to prevent the powder from being altered by heat. It is an object to provide a powder.
As a result of intensive studies to solve the above-mentioned problems, the present inventors have established a spray port of the spray device, a rectifier that rectifies the flow of the drying gas at a specific position, and a gas supply port that supplies the drying gas. I found that it was possible.

Hereinafter, embodiments according to the present invention will be described in detail.
FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing an embodiment of a spray dryer for drying the solid solution or dispersion of the present invention (hereinafter sometimes simply referred to as “spray dryer”).
The spray dryer of the present embodiment is configured mainly with a
In the present embodiment, the

The
It is particularly important that the air velocity of the drying gas is uniform in the second
By spraying the solid solution or dispersion in a state where the wind speed of the drying gas in the second
By providing the
The
The inclination angle θ of the inner peripheral surface of the
If the inclination angle θ is 70 degrees or more, the inner peripheral surface of the
The ratio (Dt / D) between the inner diameter D of the first
If Dt / D is 0.6 or more, the drying gas flowing into the first cone portion spreads uniformly in the process of flowing toward the first straight body portion. Thereby, the upward flow of the drying gas does not occur. Moreover, when satisfy | filling the preferable angle of the 1st cone part mentioned above, a 1st cone part is not too long. If it is 0.8 or less, the inner diameter of the second straight body portion does not increase, and the rectifier in the second straight body portion does not increase in size.
As the
However, the two-fluid nozzle type spraying device has a high spraying speed of the spraying gas, strongly affects the flow of the drying gas in the dryer, and easily generates an upward flow. For this reason, it is necessary to set the average wind speed of the drying gas and the average wind speed of the atomizing gas within a specific range.
In the present invention, when a two-fluid nozzle type spray device is used as the spray device, the cross-sectional average wind speed Ut of the drying gas in the second
If Un / Ut is 10 or more, the spraying speed of the atomizing gas is high, and a finely divided powder can be obtained. Or, the wind speed of the drying gas is not too high, which is economical. If it is 800 or less, the upward flow by the blowing-out of the atomizing gas will not occur.
Un / Ut is more preferably 50 or more. Moreover, 400 or less is more preferable.
The blowing gas average cross-section wind speed Un of the spray gas of the two-fluid nozzle type spray device is preferably 10 [m / sec] or more and 400 [m / sec] or less.
When Un is 10 [m / sec] or more, the spraying speed of the atomizing gas is high and a finely divided powder can be obtained. If Un is 400 [m / sec] or less, a large amount of energy is not required for blowing the atomizing gas, and no upward flow is generated.
Un is more preferably 80 [m / sec] or more. Moreover, 300 [m / sec] or less is more preferable.
The cross-sectional average wind speed Ut of the drying gas in the second
In the present invention, Un and Ut are obtained by dividing the volumetric flow rate of gas at the operating temperature by the cross-sectional area. In Un, the cross-sectional area of the spray gas blowing portion is used, and in Ut, the cross-sectional area of the second
Moreover, it can also measure using well-known various anemometers, such as a hot-wire anemometer and a Pitot tube type anemometer.
In the present invention, the spray port of the
Two or more spraying ports may be provided, and different types of solid solutions or dispersions may be sprayed from a plurality of spraying ports. In the case where there are two or more spray ports, in order to spray a solid solution or dispersion liquid uniformly, they are arranged concentrically around the central axis P of the second
The ratio (H / D) of the inner diameter (D) of the first

In FIG. 1, a collecting means 50 is provided outside the

The collecting means 50 is a device that separates and collects dry particles from the drying gas discharged from the drying

In FIG. 1, the collecting means 50 is roughly composed of the

In the present invention, the solid solution or dispersion to be spray-dried is not particularly limited. Any atomization can be performed by a spraying device, and a solvent or dispersion medium can be volatilized in a dryer, and dry particles can be obtained. For example, solutions or dispersions of foods, pharmaceuticals, synthetic chemicals such as detergents and fertilizers, synthetic resins, inorganic materials such as pigments and ceramics can be used. There is no restriction | limiting also in a solvent or a dispersion medium, For example, water, a solvent, etc. can be used.
This invention prevents generation | occurrence | production of the upward flow of the gas for drying, and prevents adhesion of the dry particle accompanying the upward flow to the inner wall of the dryer and the spraying device. Thereby, the dry particles can be prevented from being deteriorated by heat, which is suitable for foods, pharmaceuticals, and synthetic resins.
The solid solution or dispersion used in the present invention is preferably a polymer latex. It is more preferable to obtain a polymer powder by the spray drying method of the present invention.

Examples of the polymer latex in the present invention include homopolymerization of monomers such as aromatic vinyl monomers, vinyl cyanide monomers, unsaturated acid monomers, (meth) acrylic acid ester monomers, and the like. For polymerizing the polymer latex, a crosslinking agent such as divinylbenzene, 1,3-butylene dimethacrylate, allyl methacrylate, glycidyl methacrylate, or a chain transfer agent such as mercaptans or terpenes can also be used.

According to the spray drying method of the present embodiment, the upward flow of the drying gas in the vicinity of the spraying port of the
