Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a power transistor by applying a deviation signal corresponding to a specified value of a charging voltage of a condenser, charging or discharging of said condenser being controlled according to the supply condition of the primary current of the ignition coil, to a current limiting circuit to limit the primary current of the ignition coil. CONSTITUTION:An ignition signal generating circuit 1 is provided for outputting signals for on-off controlling an ignition coil 2 synchronously with an engine rpm. A power transistor 3 is controlled according to the ignition signal from said circuit 1 via a drive circuit 4, this causes the primary current of the ignition coil 2 to be turned on and off to produce a high voltage on the secondary side. Employing further a charge-discharge control circuit 6 for controlling charging or discharging a condenser 7 according to the ignition signal, a charge voltage is compared with a reference voltage and amplified in an amplifier circuit 8. From the time charge voltage reaching the reference voltage on, a deviation voltage is amplified and applied to a current limiting circuit 9. The primary current is limited so that the value of the primary current detected with a current detection circuit 5 becomes the reference voltage.
