Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide in combination the favorable reflectivity of a cyanine coloring matter and favorable absorptivity of a compound and ensure excellent recording and reproduction characteristics, by providing a recording layer comprising a specified cyanine coloring matter and a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:An indolenine cyanine coloring matter of general formula [I] having a high reflectivity and a compound of general formula [II] having favorable absorptivity are used jointly with each other. To produce an optical information recording medium, a coloring matter solution containing the indolenine cyanine of general formula [I] and the compound of general formula [II] is prepared, and is applied to a substrate. The solution may be prepared by using chloroform, dichloroethane, dioxane or the like. The proportion of the cyanine coloring matter is preferably 1-10%. In the formulas, each of A and A' is an atomic group for forming a substd. or unsubstd. benzene or naphthalene ring, B is pentamethine, each of R1 and R1' is a substd. or unsubstd. alkyl or alkoxyl, X1<-> is an anion such as halide ion, perchlorate ion, fluoroborate ion and benzenesulfonate ion, n is 1, 2, 3 or 4, R2 is hydrogen or an alkyl, and X2<-> is an anion such as halide ion, perchlorate ion and fluoroarsenate ion.
