Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable rear wheels to be steered in anti-phase in a simple manner when the steering angle of front wheels is equal to or more than a specified one by operating the rear end of a drive connecting shaft extended from a front wheel steering mechanism so as to let a rear wheel steering rod be drivable by means of a worm gear mechanism consisting of both small and large worm gears. CONSTITUTION:A small worm gear 46 is provided for the rear end of a drive connecting shaft 12 extended afterward from a front steering mechanism 2 constituted by a rack pinion mechanism, allowing a large worm gear 38 to be drivable by a small worm gear 48 engaged with the aforesaid gear 46 so as to enable rear wheels 8 to be steered by means of the engagement with a rack 36 monolithically formed onto a rear steering rod 34. Owing to this constitution, a simple worm gear mechanism enables the rear wheels to be steered, in particular, when the steering angle of front wheels is smaller than a specified one, the rear wheels are not practically steered, and when it is equal to or more than the specified one, the wheels maybe steered in anti-phase.
