Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the temperature distribution of a roll shaft uniform in the axial direction and improve the power source utilization efficiency by arranging a magnetic circuit separating body, inserted between magnetic flux generating mechanisms and having a magnetic flux separating space between the mechanisms, in a titled attitude relative to the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic circuit separating body 11 is inserted between a magnetic flux generating mechanism 8 constituted with a plurality of iron cores 9 and solenoid coils 10 mounted on and arranged in the axial direction of a fixed shaft 1 and the magnetic flux generating mechanism 8 of a roll device constituted with a hollow roll 5 freely rotatably supported via a bearing mechanism 6, with the magnetic circuit separating body 11 having a magnetic circuit separating space 11c between the mechanisms 8. With this constitution, each magnetic circuit of the magnetic flux generated by the magnetic flux generating mechanism 8 becomes a closed magnetic circuit. The part of the roll 5 near the border between the magnetic flux generating mechanisms 8 is heated by an electromotive force to make the temperature distribution uniform in the axial direction of the roll 5 and to improve the power source utilization efficiency.
