Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the energy loss of exciting power for an electromagnet, by combining the electromagnet with a permanent magnet in a magnetic attraction mechanism for diminishing the axial load on the bearing of a flywheel. CONSTITUTION:The upper shaft 2 and lower shaft 3 of a flywheel 1 are supported on antifriction bearings 4, 6. An electromagnet 8 is provided on an upper bracket 9 with a small gap over the flywheel 1 to diminish the axial load on the bearings 4, 6 to reduce friction loss. A permanent magnet 12 is secured on the upper bracket 9 concentrically with the electromagnet 8 so that the permanent magnet 12 faces the flywheel 1 across a small gap. The permanent magnet 12 and the magnetic flywheel 1 attract each other. The magnetic attractive force supplements that of the electromagnet 8 to reduce the exciting power for it.
