Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to supply fuel to an engine in proper injection rate and injection timing to an engine speed within a wide range by providing a control valve for continuously controlling an area of a fuel return passage to be smaller as the engine speed becomes higher. CONSTITUTION:In a fuel pressure control valve 7 mounted in a return passage 3, a value of current flowing to a solenoid 15 is set by an ECU 16 to be smaller as an engine speed becomes higher. With the above setting, the closed degree of an inflow port 8, which is closed by an outer peripheral surface of a large diameter part 11b on the fixed core 14 side of a plunger 11, becomes larger so that an area of the return passage 3 becomes smaller. Thus, the fuel quantity returned from a fuel injection valve 1 to a fuel 4 is controlled to be smaller so that the fuel pressure is controlled to be lager. Therefore, it is possible to supply fuel to an engine in proper injection rate and injection timing to an engine speed within a wide range.
