Abstract
PURPOSE:To maintain the air fuel ratio properly by a method wherein the output of an alcohol sensor is corrected lased on the difference between the basic injection quantity determined at the closed loop controlling and the actual injection quantity in an internal combustion engine using gasoline containing alcohol as fuel. CONSTITUTION:The basic injection quantity of fuel is calculated by the output of the alcohol sensor 25 equipped within a fuel passage 29 and the outputs of various sensors 18-20 and the like to sense running parameters of the engine with an electronic controlling unit 15 at the closed loop type controlling, for within the combustion chamber of which the air controlled its flow by a throttle valve 4 and the fuel jetted thereinto from a solenoid operated fuel injection valve 14 are burnt. Furthermore, said basic injection quantity is corrected based on the output of an air fuel ratio sensor 24 to determine the actual injection quantity, while the difference between the actual injection quantity and the basic injection quantity is memorized to correct the output of the alcohol sensor 25.
