Abstract

PURPOSE:To control a fuel injection volume by enabling the lift of a valve element to be changeable by a plurality of steps in accordance with the operating conditions of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A needle valve 14 is lifted, overcoming the resilient force of a return spring 16, by energizing a solenoid 15, and, therefore, the tapered part 14b of the needle valve 14 is separated from a valve seat 22 for opening a jet port 13. The lift of the needle valve 14 is possible to be changed by a plurality of steps in accordance with the set load of the return spring 16. That is, the set load of the return spring 16 varies by moving a valve lift adjusting member 17 above the needle valve 14. The valve lift adjusting member 17 is moved, overcoming the resilient force of a coil spring 18, by a valve lift changing, solenoid 19 which is controlled by a speed sensor. Thereby, the set load of the return spring 16 is changed.
