Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform a projection welding which reduces a work load and facilitates operation by using a metallic ball jointed to a part without forming the projection of the part by machining and etching. CONSTITUTION:When the part and the part are jointed by the projection welding to constitute a timepiece outward part, a small hole or groove 1b is formed at a joint part of one timepiece outward part 1 and the metallic ball 3 is mounted at the edge of the small hole or groove 1b; and this metallic ball 3 is jointed to one timepiece outward parts 1 to form a projection and one timepiece outward parts 1 and the other timepiece outward part 2 are jointed by the projection welding or brazing.

Conventionally, in wristwatch exteriors, a method using a spring bar has generally been used to connect the band and case. In recent years, there has been a demand for an integrated design of the band 1 and the body 2, as in the conventional example shown in Fig. 1, and brazing or welding methods have been used as the joining method. However, the waxing method requires the strength required to join the finished parts together under conditions that do not change the surface condition.
Since the development of highly durable, low-melting brazing materials is delayed, it cannot be said that this is a satisfactory bonding method.

In addition to joining the band and body, the projection welding method is advantageous for joining other wristwatch exterior parts in a completed shape and surface condition. For example, the case and decorative parts, and the case and the glass edge have conventionally been bonded together using packing or organic adhesive, but this production welding method significantly improves reliability.

However, the projections required for projection welding are usually processed by cutting, press working, or etching, but producing the projections with high precision requires a heavy processing load. Particularly when the joint surface is a curved surface, it is extremely difficult to form a welding projection within the joint surface.

The projection forming method according to the present invention uses a metal ball as a projection instead of creating a projection by cutting, pressing, or etching a watch part, and a hole or groove smaller than the diameter of the metal ball is formed on the joint surface of the watch exterior part. A metal ball is placed on top of this and the connection is made by brazing or welding.

FIGS. 3(A) and 3(B) are perspective views showing a comparison between a conventional method of projection and a projection of the present invention; FIG. 3(A) is of the present invention, and FIG. 3(B) is of the present invention.
1c is a projection according to the conventional technique, and 3 is a projection according to the present invention. 4 to 9 are all embodiments of the present invention; FIGS. 4 to 6 are the first embodiment, FIG. 7 is the second embodiment, and FIGS. 8 and 9 are the third embodiment. This is an example. The present invention will be explained in detail below based on the drawings.

Therefore, unlike the conventional technique, another metal ball is joined to the band tip as shown in Figs. 5 and 6. The method shown in Fig. 5 is a method in which the projection is joined to the band tip 1a by welding. Yes, diameter 0.5 m made of 5US304
A metal ball 3 having a diameter of m was held down by a full-form jig 5, and welding was performed using this holding jig 5 as an electrode. Jig 5 for one electrode
By forming the concave spherical surface, the contact resistance between the metal ball 6 and the jig 5 could be reduced, and there would be no sparks with the jig, and the metal ball 3 and the tip 1a of the band could be firmly welded. The welding conditions were a pressurized cuff of kg, a peak current of 1800 A, and a current application time of 5 cycles. The upper electrode material used as this jig 5 was silver or steel plated with silver.

Connect the projections using the method explained in Figure 5,
As a result of projection welding the body and the band shown in Figure 4, the gap between the band 1 and the body 2 was less than 20 μm, and it was possible to create a sense of unity between the band and the case.

Embodiment 2 FIG. 7 is a side view of an embodiment in which a band is directly connected to a curved surface often used in watch cases. In this embodiment, the case surface is a curved surface, and forming the projection at the same time as the surface processing has the disadvantage that processing load is extremely large and costs are also high. Therefore, in this example, a projection was made using a metal ball on the bonding surface of the band tip using the same method as in Example 1.

To join the bezel 7 made of stellite alloy and the body 2 of this embodiment, metal balls were previously joined at four locations on the body 2 in the same manner as in the first or second embodiment. After the body 2 was formed into a completed shape, the body 2 and the bezel 7 were welded together by glojection welding, and a good joint state could be obtained.

The present invention is a projection system that can join completed watch parts together after finishing polishing and cleaning as described above, with a small processing load, easy work, and without reducing reliability after joining. This is a welding method that has a great effect on reliability during work and after joining, and is particularly effective for joining curved surfaces that are difficult to process.
This has the advantage that there is no need for further processing.
