Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the precision of the width of a breaker after the bending of the breaker by a method wherein a simple stitching means is used for assembling the breaker layer so that stitching roller are brought into pressure contact with materials for forming the breaker simultaneously with the bending of the breaker.
CONSTITUTION: The materials 10a and 10b for forming the breaker are wound on a drum flange 11 and both ends of each of the materials are bent by bringing the stitching rollers 1 and 1' into pressure contact with the surfaces of the materials while bladders 8 and 8' provided at both end surfaces 12 and 12' of the drum flange 11 are expanded. The stitching rollers 1 and 1' are then separated from the drum flange 11, the materials 10a and 10b are bent toward the drum flange 11 and stitching roller 1 is applied on the breaker material 10b to press down the material with its entire circumferential surface in coincidence in position with the end 12 of the drum flange so that the width of the drum flange 11 and that of the breaker after bending coincides with each other.
