Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a bronze color film on the surfaces of aluminum by forming an anodic oxidation film on the surface of aluminum through electrolysis in a phosphoric acid soln., then subjecting the same to AC electrolysis in an aq. soln. contg. copper ions and nickel ions.
CONSTITUTION: As a primary electrolytic treatment, for example, 10W20vol% phosphoric acid soln. is used as an electrolyte at 10W25°C, and the primary electrolytic treatment is carried out at 1A/dm2 current density (DC), 30W40min electricity conduction times with cathode of pure aluminum or of its alloy, whereby an anodic oxidation film is formed. Thence, as a secondary electrolytic treatment, for example, an electrolyte prepd. of 30W120g/l NiSO4.6H2O, ≥50g/l H3BO3, and 5W60g/l CuSO4.5H2O is used at 10W25°C, and if the treatment is carried out at 1A/dm2 current density (AC), and with a counter electrode plate of stainless steel or nickel, a bronze coloring is once made in about 5min of electricity conduction, and a bronze color is formed for about 10min. Thereby, the stable bronze color film is obtained easily.
