Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a color film of a blackish brown color of good throwing power by immersing alumite electrolytically colored with a soln. contg. Ni salt in an acid, and again electrolytically coloring the same with the soln. of the same composition.
CONSTITUTION: Al or Al alloy having an anodically oxidized film as cathode is subjected to primary electrolytic coloring in a bath contg. soluble Ni salt. Next, this colored metal is immersed in an inorg. acid or org. acid. The primary electrolytically colored metal immersed in this acid is again electrolytically colored in an electrolytic coloring bath contg. Ni salt. The colored film of a blackish brown color of good throwing power is obtained in the case when uniform current density is difficult to obtain owing to various reasons.
