Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the generation of NOx in a distribution type fuel injection pump by arranging a plurality of ports on a plunger to supply fuel successively in delayed phases for changing the rate of injection.
CONSTITUTION: In a pump housing 1, a plunger 4 is slided to rotate and reciprocate as interlocking with an engine. An auxiliary chamber 40b and a main chamber 40a are provided between the plunger 4 and a cylinder 5, while the first, second and third ports 41, 42, and 43 are opened in the plunger 4 and both chambers 40a and 40b for connecting between a supply port 11 and an oil feed passage 44. The first port 41 is closed in the initial time of the compression stroke of the plunger 4, the second port 42 is closed in the intermediate point of time of the compression stroke, and the third port 43 is closed in the latter period of the compression stroke. Consequently, the rate of fuel is changed to be supplied to the oil feed passage44.
