Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled apparatus, designed to separate and recover part or all of the blood components from blood, body fluid or solution of suspended hematocytes obtained by treating them, and consisting of a container packed with a specific fibrous polyacrylonitrile material.
CONSTITUTION: Blood, body fluid or a solution of suspended hematocytes obtained by treating them is brought into contact with a fibrous polyacrylonitrile material having an iodine orientation degree ≤4 to adhere granulocytes in leukocytes to the fibrous material selectively and separate lymphocytes. The activity loss of the granulocytes is then minimized to desorb the granulocytes and separate and recover the leukocytes. In case the diameter of the fibrous material is larger than 10μ, granulocytes having a remarkably high retention of the activity can be recovered. As for the preferred form of the separating apparatus of the blood component, the fibrous material 3 is packed in a cylindrical column 2 at a suitable density, and the adhesion and desorption of the leukocytic cmponents can be continuously carried out.
