Abstract

PURPOSE: Granulocyte-separating material and granulocyte collector that is made by coating the carrier with phospholipid, thus readily separating granulocytes from blood-floating liquid such as blood or humor in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: A carrier such as polyester fiber of 3 denier filament is coated with a phospholipid such as yolk lecithin to make a granulocyte-separating material. The granulocyte-separating material is placed in a vessel 2 provided with blood inlet and outlet 7 to give the device for collecting granulocytes. Recently, the granulocyte transfusion is positively applied to agranulocyte, various kinds of leukoses, infectious diseases accompained with hypoplastic anemia, and hypogranulocytosis caused by the administration of an antitumor agent or by irradiation with radioactive rays, however, the separation of granulocytes by adsorption and desorption with fiber is low in yield, because of too high adhesion of granulocytes to fibers. Thus, the carrier is coated with a phospholipid to lower the adhesion and facilitate the collection of granulocytes.
