Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate leukocyte containing only a limited amount of erythrocyte, in a short time in high yield, by pretreating a leukocyte-separating filter composed of a fibrous material and packed in a column with blood-plasma, and passing blood or body fluid through the filter thereby capturing leukocyte with the filter.
CONSTITUTION: A leukocyte-separation filter composed of a fibrous material, esp. polyacrylonitrile fiber, is treated with blood-plasma, or its component such as blood serum, serum albumin, serum γ-globulin solution, etc. Blood or body fluid such as ascites, cerebrospinal fluid, etc., or a blood corpuscle dispersion obtaind by removing most part of the erythrocyte from the blood, etc., is passed through the treated leukocyte-separation filter. The filter containing captured leukocytes is washed with physiological saline solution, etc., and the leukocyte is recovered from the filter.
