Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a copied image having always uniform image density, by automatically adjusting light intensity of preexposure in accordance with change of humidity near a photoreceptor in repetitively forming latent images in succession on the photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:A rotating photosensitive drum 1 is uniformly subjected to light emitted from a lamp 4 after undergoing preexposure and discharge from corona dischargers 2, 3 to form an electrostatic latent image, this image is developed with a developing device 5, and transferred to a transfer paper 7 with a transfer discharger 6. The drum 1 is cleared of remaining toner with a cleaning means 8, and after that, undergoes actions of the preexposure means and a discharger 9 for destaticization to erase the light and charging hysteresis and also to control the difference in density among images copied. In this case, output of a humidity detector 12 is converted into a control signal with a signal converter 14 in a power supply controller 13 of a lamp 10, and further it is produced as a given voltage with a light source stabilizer 15 to change light intensity of the preexposure lamp 10.
