Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the surface of a photoreceptor from being stained with the untransferred toner by making an electrostatic latent image disappear by exposing the entire surface of the photoreceptor, being developed according to the latent image formed on the photoreceptor by image exposure, according to the size of transfer paper. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptor 1 is discharged by a charger 4 to charge a conductive layer 2 and a photoconductive layer 3 on the photoreceptor 1, which is irradiated with an original image 20; and development is carried out by a magnetic brush developing device with conductive magnetic toner 7. Then, the photoreceptor 1 is irradiated by an exposure lamp according to the size of transfer paper, thereby making a latent image at a part, irradiated with light, disappear. At the same time, the entire surface is charged with the negative polarity to intensify the polarity of the toner 7, and the image is transferred onto the transfer paper 11. Since the entire-surface exposure is performed according to the size of the transfer paper, no excessive toner sticks to a conductive rubber roller.
