Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the outflow of metal and metallic hydride from a reactor during absorption and release of hydrogen by a reaction producing the metallic hydride from the metal and hydrogen by mixing the metal and the metallic hydride with an oily substance so as to provide stickiness.
CONSTITUTION: When absorption and release of hydrogen are carried out by causing a reaction producing metallic hydride from Li, Na, K, Mg or other metal and hydrogen and its reverse reaction, the metal and the metallic hydride are mixed with an oily substance by about 10W500g/kg metal. The suitable oily substance is dialkylsiloxane, silicone oil or liq. parafin. As a result, the metal and metallic hydride are stuck to each other with the oily substance in-between, so they are prevented from scattering and flowing out of a reactor even if they are reduced to fine powder by repeating absorption and release of gaseous hydrogen.
