Abstract
PURPOSE: To offer a cast article, improved in adhesiveness between a resin and an electrode, useful as an insulating spacer for electrically supporting and insulating a gas-shielded conductor, by arranging a porous sintered metal layer, which is sintered with an immersed metal tool, onto the periphery of the immersed metal tool.
CONSTITUTION: A higher potential-side electrode 41 made of a gunmetal material is received in a press die. An intermediate layer, having a porosity of 25%, sintered with the higher potential-side electrode is formed by mixing a gunmetal powder having a particle size of 150W200μ, compressing the powdery mixture, and holding the compressed mixture 20W30min at 800W900°C in a hydrogen atmosphere at a position corresponding to the intermediate layer 42 on the periphery of the higher potential-side electrode 41. Thus, the higher potential-side electrode 41 provided with the intermediate layer to be used as an insulating spacer is obtained. Any metal or alloy, e.g. Cu-Sn, Pb-bronze or the like, sinterable to the electrode and formable into a porous sintered metal body may be used as an intermediate layer-forming metal. How much complex configuration the profile of the porous sintered metal layer may have, there is not any defect such as stripping between the intermediate layer and the resin part.
