Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the number of signal cable channels by determinating a flaw position on the basis of a sensor position where an acoustic emission (AE) sensor arranged in a matrix in a structure detects an elastic wave at a flaw part. CONSTITUTION:Each of AE sensors 111... is arranged in a matrix and connected with common cables 12, 13 at each column and row. Further, by an identifier 16 for AE sensor positions, positions of a plurality of sensors 111... that have detected an elastic waves corresponding to flaw parts are identified. When on the basis of these position identifying signals, said operation is performed in an arithmetic circuit 17, positions of flaw parts are determined and displayed on an indicator 18. By the arrangement of the AE sensors using common lines of columns and rows, the number of signal cable channels is reduced and a flaw detector easy to maintain and to inspect is obtained.
