Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively cool the coil of the subject rotor by a method wherein liquid helium is allowed to easily infiltrate in a spool by providing a passage for liquid helium on the spool, whereon a superconductive field coil is to be wound, and on the wedge which will be used for fixing the spool in a slot. CONSTITUTION:When a race track-formed superconductive field coil 3 is wound on the spool 16, placed in the slot of a coil mounting shaft and fixed by a wedge 19, liquid helium passages 22A and 22B are provided on the inner and outer sides in the radial direction of th spool 16. It is preferable that these liquid helium passages 22A and 22B are provided displacing their position in the longitudinal direction of the coil. Also, a liquid helium passage 25 is provided on the wedge 19 conforming to the passage 22B, as occasion demands. Accordingly, the field coil 3 can be effectively cooled to a cryogenic temperature.
