Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the discernment of leaking of a heat transmission pipe of a multi-pipe type heat exchanger, by providing a pocket section around the heat transmission pipe. CONSTITUTION:The pocket section 20 is provided around the heat transmission pipe 2 that is in contact with a tube plate 3, and a fine groove 21 communicates the pocket sections 20. The outer pipe of the heat transmission pipe 2 has a bore open to the pocket section 20, and the fine groove 21 is formed with a leak detecting hole 22. The leaked fluid flowed from the space of the heat transmission pipe 2 flows into the pocket section 20, and then passes through the detecting hole 22 so that the leak is detected by a leak detector. By connecting every leak detecting hole of respective heat transmission pipes to each detector, a heat transmission pipe from which leak is occuring can be readily discerned, and the particular pipe can quickly be repaired.
