Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a shock at shifting from all-cylinder direct drive operation to cylinder pausing operation by staggering an end of the direct drive operation before a starting point of the cylinder pausing operation and a starting point of the direct drive operation after an end of the cylinder pausing operation. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder pause judgement signal A1 which is generated after determination of a cylinder pause by means of an input element group is fed by a delay circuit 6 in the form of a delay cylinder pause judgement signal A2 to an AND circuit 7, which generates a cylinder pause operation signal A3 as a result from the calculation and inputted into a valve stop controller of an engine. The cylinder pause judgement signal A1 is further sent to an inversion circuit 9 and inverted therein into an inverted cylinder pause determination signal B. The signal is inputted into a delay circuit 10 to produce a delayed inversion cylinder pause judgement signal C, which is compouted by an AND circuit 11. The computed signal is issued into an AND circuit 12. On the other hand, a direct drive judgement signal E is inputted into the AND circuit 12 and produced in the form of a direct drive clutch control signal F, which is sent into a controller.
